Apple has published a new support article detailing an issue with some new 13-inch Retina MacBook Pros that debuted alongside the iPad Air earlier this month. The issue can lead to the computer’s keyboard or trackpad becoming unresponsive.
There have been numerous reports of the issue in a 67-page thread on the Apple support forums. Apple’s statement:
Apple is aware of rare circumstances where the built-in keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive on 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display (Late 2013) computers and is working on an update to resolve this behavior.
According to the new support page, Apple is aware of the issue and working on a permanent fix. The fix will likely come by way of a software update via the Mac App Store. Until it is released, the issue can be remedied by closing the computer for a full minute and then waking it back up.

I really hope Apple is able to eventually spread out their product launches again. I can’t help but think that the “Apple Quality” is starting to falter by launching 10+ different products and software upgrades within 2 months of each other. I know its petty, but it really bothers me that only a few of the apps in Mavericks were given the new look (why leave out Game Center) and none of the icons were updated, leaving icons that don’t even resemble the app (Notes). Leaves a disjointed feeling to it, for something that is suppose to be combining OSX and iOS, its a step back.
“Apple says fix incoming” makes no sense as part of the headline unless somebody outside the company is writing their software. I’m starting to agree with the trolls that say you can’t write.
Lol @ fix incoming. You’re right ;d
More early adopters gettin’ screwed. How much you want a bet they knew about these bugs (how could they not, 67 pages of posts ffs) and released the product anyway?
my 2013 MacBook Air also experienced the same issue!
There are now 134 pages worth of comments and more people every day… I’m one of the latest. Are you guys at 9to5 able to revisit this and ask Apple for comment or ETA? Support has not been very helpful and the consensus for many will be to return it for a refund. I’m inclined to do a return myself… but would rather not…
