The latest Angry Birds edition, Stella, hit the app store today, with pink, female characters apparently designed to appeal to girls. The game itself, though, is a variation on the familiar theme of firing birds at pigs hidden in the scenery …
Join Stella and her super adventurous friends on a quest to protect Golden Island from the greedy Bad Princess and her clueless piggies! Meet this fierce new bunch, master their amazing superpowers, and play over 120 action-packed levels!
Stella has teamed up with Dahlia, Poppy, Willow and Luca – the newest flock on the block! These fearless pals have a strong bond but even stronger personalities. You could even say they’re best friends forever… most of the time.
But now these brave birds need to pull together and fight to save the island from Gale, the Bad Princess who’s stolen their scrapbook and is destroying their magical home.
You can play Angry Birds Stella for free, but the franchise is working harder than ever to ensure you won’t want to. There are ads you have to view for specific lengths of time every few levels, with time delays before you’re allowed to access higher levels – unlockable by purchasing coins – and if you want to unlock extra characters, you’ll need to buy the physical toys and show them to the camera.
In-app coin purchases range from $1.99 to $19.99. Go Telepod toys can be bought through a button in the app, but you can get them for around half-price on Amazon.
All-in, the series of Angry Birds games have notched up a staggering two billion downloads. You can add to this number by downloading from iTunes.
