Samsung being Samsung…
does bitches
Notice the stylus’ new place of prominence? I wonder why?
Yeah, innovation Samsung way. Welcome back to the 90s.
Stylus inside the phone is very good idea, sometimes it is useful. It is very useful for writing and drawing – and no need for sepparately carring it with you.
Samsung has never been innovative. They are pretty much the microsoft of phones. Anyone remember the BLACKJACK. When blackberry became passé then we got the iPhone wannabes. Screen size does not make the phone, and that is why they get outsold year after year. It’s pretty pathetic, and Im not even an Apple fanboy.
No one says screen size is all there is.
The S5 has numerous features that iphone buyers are still waiting for.
If iPhone users valued those features over the more intuitive interface and robust build quality of the iPhone, well- they wouldn’t be iPhone users.
Name three besides Malware.
I’m not waiting on anything.
Lag isn’t a feature.
Works both ways
i am an iPhone buyer and samsung’s phone have nothing that I’ve been waiting for , sorry :( don’t meant to hurt u , this is the fact :)
You clearly are so feature horny that you don’t even get that in the end NO ONE cares about the WHEN, it’s all about the HOW. And that’s the reason why Apple is kicking Samsung’s arse on every level possible… and then some.
Samsung should finally zip up their pants and SOON. It’s getting extremely embarrassing and uncomfortable!
Mobile phone carriers not providing updates quickly enough.
why is that related to phone carriers ?? Don’t quite understand.
Totally agree, my friend.
You must never have own a Galaxy ! In order to make that comment stop it it’s not even close apple being playing catch up for years now
Been*
Also Apple does not play catch up. They watch Samsung fail and then Apple does things better.
lol I seen that
O my god….how about HTC, Nokia, Sony Ericson and LG????
I know. But Shamesung make Apple rip-offs and not the others’ that’s why they’re trying to fool people.
They are all good phones, and iPhone has also another new competition: Xiaomi MI 4
LOL… you seriously need to stop smokin’ the cheap stuff!!
I don’t think Apple said that it’s big screen was a “fresh idea”
Then again, I don’t rely on the input of random people from twitter when planning a phone purchase
That line in particular really caught my attention and that’s immediately what I said to myself. I don’t remember Apple ever saying the size of the 6 Plus was a “fresh idea”. That to me sounds like someone putting words in Apple’s mouth purely to manufacture some platform on which to be antagonistic.
Pretty much par for the course. Most Apple haters typically call out Apple for supposedly taking credit for things that other devices already had but more often then not it’s just Apple promoting the fact that they have the feature to, not that they invented it.
As though people expect Apple presenters to take the stage and say, “We know other phones already have this but we have blah, blah, blah…”
Just like Samsung doesn’t mention where they got the idea for a metal body and chamfered edges.
lol said by samsung…
How about Sony’s Xperia, and HTC’s One max, and Nokia’s Lumia and the LG G Pro??? Why do they always pick on Apple and no one else?? Because they are scared.
Because Apple is the number one mobile phone producer in the world by the only metric that matters, profits. And because that’s not going to change. Even if you ignore profits, Apple does remarkably well in units.
Are you able to view the ad and the comments at the same time ON YOUR PHONE?
I can. It’s very handy.
Why is it handy? Can you watch the vid and read the comments at the same time?
Thanks Herb, perfect way to illustrate the uselessness of most of the “features” the S5 has exclusively
In part, everybody compares to the top of the line. If I were making sports cars, I would be trying to compare to Ferrari or other top tier.
at least Apple innovated in designing phablets that do not look dirt cheap.
So you’re happy to be PAYING TOO MUCH for a phone?
Spread the cash, boss!
Happy about paying for what a good phone is worth. All the other companies race to the bottom and sacrifice design and user experience. Apple can charge for good stuff. Others can’t. That doesn’t all of the sudden change the magic “too much” line.
Except the Nexus line. That’s a slightly different story, though clearly not designed by Sir Ive.
We’re paying an appropriate amount for the build quality.
The Alpha is almost the same price as the iPhone but with lower specs.
I have this wonderful idea about how to spend my money, and keep my money, so lets look at facts, iPhone 5s brand new 32gb model was £629 in the uk… Same UK model 16gb S4 had a NRPP of, you guessed it, £629.99…! So lets look at the market for 2nd hand phones a year later… 5S is about £350 and the S4 is about £150… Mmmmm And i pay too much for a phone because i choose quality over crap….??? Maybe you make up the difference by being paid to troll… ;)
What’s too much Herb? I have a work Galaxy S5, it has a cheap plastic feel to it. Last I checked the price to but one was about the same as an iPhone.
Samsung just sucks… Too low to be Apple’s competitive.
cannot agree more!
Yet all the newest iPhone features were around on their platform for years, seems like catch-up to me.
Hahaha, so Phablet is an idea ? That’s the only thing they can come up ? Samsung really Sucks !!!
One thing they know that Apple is better. Period.
If Samsung produced an ad with all of the ways it leads Apple, it would be a feature-length film.
Better battery life. Better display. Better camera. Multitasking. Water resistant. Dust resistant.
Really, the sheep are thrilled about shiny leftovers.
Right, Wrong, Wrong, Multitasking negates battery life, Right, Right. I count 3 or 4 ways that Samsung leads Apple. As opposed to the dozens of ways Apple leads Samsung.
It’s ok though. Apple can take it.
Hmmm. First, the iPhone’s camera is voted on year after year as the best. Water resistant, kinda cool but considering Samsung can’t distinguish between an idea and a good idea, that hardly leaves apple fans wanting more. If Samsung stopped to thing about whether they should instead of whether they could, maybe you would have more than 10.7 gb usable space. Maybe Apple should make an ad with the one stat that counts, satisfaction ratings. That’s not just coming from JD power, which had the iPhone as number 1 across the board, but as a manager of a cell phone store where we sold iPhone over android 2 to 1 yet saw complaints from android users over iPhone users somewhere around 5 to 1. So enjoy your glitchy phone and 6-8 month late updates to your OS. Btw I could water proof a turd, and it’s still a turd.
Better battery life? Better display? Better camera? Where do you live?
You obviously didn’t try using an iPhone, probably because you can’t afford one, but that’s not the point.
Water/Dust resistant? I personally don’t need them, and i highly doubt that you take your SAMEsung with you to the shower. And don’t forget that Sony came with them first.
So I advice you to shut up. And alwaaaays remember, if Samsung was in the lead, and so superior, why are they mocking Apple, if they’re claiming it’s beneath them.
Another thing, if you’re comfortable with your miserable phone, leave us be. This is a website for Apple users. Get the hell out.
Then why do you sound like the bitter one?
I sense a sense of inferiority in this comment.
The iPhone does multitask.
Herb, I really want to ask you something. Does it enhance your life to make fun of other people? Does it honestly make you feel better about what you’re lacking in life? I know you probably need more therapy than that, but why is it that you have to troll an Apple website if you just don’t care? If it’s for the laughs, I recommend stand up comedy – there are some great ones out there. If it’s for the holier-than-thou experience, I recommend buying a cot and living in the Samsung experience section of a Best Buy store. If it’s because you’re just a shitty person…well…I feel sorry for you, son. Life is about much more than the totem pole. What is it psychologically that you are missing in your life that drives you to come here? You do realize that it makes no sense, right? I might have 99 problems, but a shitty Samsung phone ain’t one.
Why do you have such a hard-on for Samsung? You are entitled to like whatever you like but you are not going to change anyone here.
If you actually knew what you were talking about that would be one thing but so far I have never seen anything that you have written that is based on anything but your personal opinion.
Most of your comments are inflammatory so it’s pretty transparent as to what you are trying to do.
The apple value proposition goes well beyond the phone. The whole cohesive ecosystem is unmatched. I can take pictures on my iPhone, update the calendar, take notes, as well as other things and it seamlessly syncs with my mac and iPad. The other way around too. That to me is productive. The screen size is very secondary to me.
Yep, I can do those things on my phone/Tab, too.
It integrates nicely with the Apple ecosystem. Check it out.
No it doesn’t.
even tho i didn’t CHECK IT OUT , i knew that u are very wrong , coz it is impossible for any android thing to integrate with apple ‘s ecosystem.
When I update my calendar on my android phone it syncs with my Gmail account which then syncs with the calendar on my mac. All the photos I take are saved on my G+ account, which I can easily access on my mac through chrome… But I do agree that Apple products do work better with each other for obvious reasons.
Bullying! Is what it is. They insult the company and it’s customers. People love to be mock that will surely get them to switch to samsung… Lmao. Samsung is a sad company that does make nice products but going that low as to make fun of another company that you can’t beat even with their plethora of gimmicky phones is nothing but sad and pathetic. Nothing in my opinion shows less class as well as fear. Ads created by a toddler. Grow up samsung!!!!
How have they insulted people? The ad only (accurately) points out that the larger screen size isn’t new.
Mocking people would be like the Apple ads vs PC.
Yeah, Apple had a large screen touch device in 2010, they called it an iPad.
Could you point out the part where Apple said a larger screen is new?
No way??? Apple’s been increasing screen sizes since 1985.
Apparently Samdung belove they have invented that.
Actually the ads never mocked anyone. They made fun of the actual PC itself. Thy didn’t mention any names or anything and I think that most intelligent people found the ads to be very clever and regardless of whether they used PC’s or Macs. The ads may have been a little over your head so it’s okay if you didn’t get them.
Samsung knows full well the have no hope of being number 1. They are simply using the tactic previously (and currently?) enjoyed by “also-rans” like Burger King and Pepsi. Far far far behind market leaders McDonald’s and Coca Cola, they always mention the names of their dominators. I won’t say competitors because these guys can’t compete against those leaders. But they work their angles to compete against lesser brands to maintain that number 2 position.
Here’s the thing though. These other guys in other industries actually have product, not just a brand. Samsung has only the brand, it’s Google that owns 100% of the product and controls it with an every tightening iron fist. It also happens to be the same product that everyone else can market, so competition is only gong to get more fierce on that race to the bottom. At some point someone’s going to flinch and back out of the money losing proposition. You can only stand to bleed red for so long.
Google pretty much owns nothing of Android on Samsung phones. They make more money per iPhone. Samsung does have a small software product. It just sucks.
Selling is tougher and tougher, Samsung.
Screen size is no more an adventage, what should you do?
It would be a ripoff if the 1 million iPhone apps in existence didn’t look right or work right.
Truth hurts, doesn’t it?
The fact is, Samsung created the phablet, consumers like it and Apple is playing catch up.
Just don’t wet yourself in your hatred for Apple being an imitator. Your iPhone isn’t water resistant, and neither is the iphone 6.
But my Galaxy S5 is.
I am not dumb enough to drop my phone in the water but perhaps you are. I have had wallets for 35 years, i have never dropped one in water. Perhaps now I need a water-proof wallet.
Do you drool on your phone?
That person comes here just to go fishing with troll bait. People here need to do themselves a favor and stop biting.
I’ve never dropped a phone.
Why don’t you ask the Apple sales people the number one reason people need new phones.
It’s a good feature. And it’s on the S5.
red26sox: Don’t reply to him. He’s a dumb troll and when we stop replying to him, he’ll go away. I think 9to5mac should block him from commenting on the website, there should be a vote about that.
And still not the number one selling phone in the world. Epic fail! Enjoy your plastic joke of a copied phone. Only thing samsung has innovated is a new level of fear. You haven’t heard it’s also crush proof! Put it out in some traffic and watch the magic.
Let him have it. If he’s so crazy to believe that making a bigger screen is innovative that’s his problem. And apparently that’s the only thing theu can boast about. That’s lame.
Last I remember, Samsung was guilty of copying the iPhone in court, and lost. A lot of money.
You are very funny kid. If u are so happy with ur Samsung why are u here defending it? As well as Samsung… Why do u even need to mention Apple products in ur advertising? Oh I know. Maybe because even been a rip off, a copy or anything u want to call it, it will sell bigger that ur Samsung.
Make a product that stands alone for itself. And sell it. If u r good enough, competition won’t matter. Go ahead and do it, and You ll have my respects.
That’s the real truth, and it hurts like shit.
You’re right no company should ever market itself, they should also never compare themselves with their biggest competition. Apple shouldn’t have to spend hundreds of millions on marketing their products, this way they could maximise their profits which they would allow them to increase dividends or invest into R&D
No. Samsung did not create the Phablet. Dell had the Streak as far back as mid-2010.
Granted, Samsung may have popularized it, but they sure didn’t create it.
Yes, the truth hurts, doesn’t it?
“playing catch up” just like the entire phone industry were playing catch up when the iPhone was first introduced.
Like with anything that is at the top, its rivals will strive to reach number one and surpass it. The current number one will eventually become complacent.
The difference with people who like apple products they don’t rub other peoples noses in it like people who like Samsung phones do. Why is this? Some are just plain aggressive at defending Samsung.
I like iPhones and android phones, unjust prefer apple at the moment.
Actually, Dell created the phablet back in 2010. http://www.gsmarena.com/dell_streak-3353.php
No, it’s not true!
BLOCK THIS USED BECAUSE HE DIDN’T BOW AT THE ALTAR OF APPLE!!
I believe the Dell Streak was one of the first phablets, and it was years before Samsung.
The Streak came out in 2010, the Note in 2011. Year, not years.
STILL the 5c Outsells the S5 http://www.google.com.mx/url?q=http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-5c-android-sales-2014-3&sa=U&ei=Ac8WVN2VH5TP8QHUuYEw&ved=0CBIQFjAA&usg=AFQjCNHMXIE_AE1u-l7L0JdRw41Lv_DR-A
Too dumb to live. HTC made phablets years before Samsung: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Advantage
And nowadays, they still make a far better Android phone.
And I’m assuming you need the whole waterproof thing because the S5 is so bulky and heavy that you keep dropping it into the toilet?
Is there some downside to having an IP67 rating that I am not aware of?
Have you seen how the S5 looks? There’s a reason most people don’t want a phone that looks like it was designed by Kyocera.
There may be a good reason to get a waterproof phone, but don’t pretend there aren’t any sacrifices.
I’m pretty sure that several years ago when Apple was first developing the iPhone, the thought of a bigger phone never entered their mind. They never envisioned a phone bigger then 3.5″, or 4″. Anyway, Samsung is a parts company that tries really hard to make products. For the most part they do a decent enough job that obviously endears itself to a lot of people. Apple will always show them the way. They can make things bigger, rounder, longer, brighter….whatever…they still need Apple to show them what to build. They are a parts company. They have not innovated past the original iPhone…Apple hasn’t either…we are not there yet…I’m sure when Apple designs the next phone category it’s going to release, and shows the world, Samsung would have found how to innovate again…
The Apple Watch is yet another example where Samsung tried to innovate with the Gear, but was clearly clueless. Now that Apple has shown Samsung and the rest of the world the way in the wearable space, Samsung will shamelessly rip it off, too. And in a hundred different iterations hoping something sticks.
Apple isn’t the first to market, they’re first to market the right way.
Says you. Mainstream media says YAWN.
Mainstream media might be a bit cautious on the success of the yet unreleased Apple Watch. But they’re adamant in saying that the Samsung gear is total sh!t
Samsung didn’t try to innovate with the gear. When apple began working on their watch, rumour got out and samsung rushed a product to market. The first gear came out a few months after rumor broke that apple was working on one. It was just another classic Samesung move.
Although, I still totally don’t get the usefulness of a smart watch yet anyway.
Samsung still needs to perfect shiny and how to dupe customers.
Notice them showing a movie that has yet to be released from cinemas, illegal downloading maybe?
Remember this ad is showin the device in action from an owners point of view!
Wow, that’s a reach.
Face it, Apple’s innovations have been around for a while.
Enjoy your “new” phone
.. which a ton of retailers are giving away.
Going by your previous comments, we are paying too much for a phone! Now your saying that retailers are giving them away for free?
1. They haven’t been released yet so…..
2. List the retailers you speak of.
I think I have made my point
Samsung is the desperate one giving their garbage away for free. And I work at a carrier and have spoken to some samsung reps. They’ll do anything and pay you anything to show off their device to customers first. I do, but then end up selling the iPhone anyways since customers like it better. Intuitive, easy to use, lots of apps that work really well (not fragmented like android).
Why so bitter? How is the Note 4 so innovative over the Note 3? Or the Galaxy S5 over the S4?
Some Men love Kate Upton, who gives a damn about the first big-boob in the world?
Let’s admit though. Samsung does have a pretty effective marketing strategy. It may not be “good,” but it’s effective—Classic 2nd place marketing that Apple knows well from Mac vs. PC (though that was the undisputed best ad series of all time).
As much as Android fans like to call us iSheep, Samsung’s got a much bigger reality distortion field going on with their devices. They somehow make them look cool, when in reality, they’re a linux nerd’s wet dream. Most normal people that I talk to don’t even know how to use a Samsung device to do anything but call, text and use the ubiquitous Facebook app. It’s not a good user experience when it comes down to it. Android has better options.
I just hope Apple has something to say about not being first but better in an ad that airs at a similar time (which I don’t see with their Fallon/Timberlake ads) Because this ad kinda hurts Apple’s brand with normal people. They’re no longer making fun of “iSheep” for standing in line or being wall huggers or not being able to split-screen multitask, they’re making fun of Apple itself. I think that’s a far more dangerous tac, not necessarily here in this advert, but in the future.
Here’s the thing about this ad: Samsung is actually marketing fanboyism. Everything in that advert was all internet-related and doesn’t really have any credibility. That will matter for some, most won’t understand anything (My brother was saying he thought Samsung was saying the iPhone copied them, didn’t even catch the screen size thing), but there will still be the negative vibe towards Apple.
Best ‘runner up’ advertising campaign ever was Austin Powers – The Spy Who Shagged Me.
“If you see only one movie this summer, see Star Wars, but if you see two movies, see Austin Powers”
Don’t worry Samsung i have your phone and i usually sits like this on metro station to charge my phone you know why because you are the most worst company in the world with your stupid applications.
So stop using apple to increase your sails they already have 98% of satisfied customers but i don’t think so that you even have 10% of that and those 10% may also be those who don’t know any thing about technology all they want is just a phone to listen. So stop finding mistakes in other’s product first improve yours specially the design part first and remove all those useless applications.
herb02135go is clearly a samsung paid minion. quick google of the name shows all the negative troll comments repeatedly on 9to5mac.
Agree with you. We should get a vote on banning him from commenting on 9to5mac. It’ll be a better place without him.
You have a big mouth. Care to put your money where your mouth is?
Prove that I am affiliated with Samsung (aside from owning their great products) and you get $10,000.
I’ll give you 30 days.
If you fail, you give me $10,000.
Put up or STFU.
so you troll for free? hahaha get a life bozo. just sit there and shut up, or go away because no one will miss you here, or visit 9to5google and unleash your apple hate there
Apple fanboys troll for free too. Claiming that they are happy in the restricted ecosystem is laughable.
I agree all the products work well together, what’s on your iPhone goes on your iPad goes on your mac etc. But this something you can achieve easily no matter the phone, tablet, PC combination. In fact the further you get away from Apple the less dependant it is on brand. My Android can sync with my Windows tablet which can sync with my mac. It’s more about knowing how to get it setup to do it. Apple have done the ‘setup’ for you, which to be honest isn’t really that hard anymore.
Well, Tuan?
Your big mouth is clearly silent.
You hate yourself because you know I’m right.
No. You’re just a sad, belligerent little Samsung troll blowhard with low self-esteem that’s not worth anybody’s time. Think about it.
He hasn’t got $200, let alone $10,000.
If he had money, he might be able to buy himself a friend to talk to.
As much as I am an Apple fanboy Samsung has a point. Apple isnt innovating in terms of screen size. We get it. But the difference will come with how us, the user, is actually able to work and play on the device. Samsung bloats its devices with bolt on features that i can say ( i have used the note2 and s3) that i have never used and probably will never use.
Samsung actually has fallen and fallen hard. They dont realise that their biggest competitor isnt apple but in fact LG, Sony and the like.
The Difference between the Apple and Samsung is loyalty. People arent loyal to Samsung but to Android. If Sony or LG is better people will jump over to them. The same isnt so evident when it comes to Apple.
I dont say Samsung is crap because they have made some pretty decent devices but in the end Apple has an ecosystem that remians unrivalled. Software made for the hardware and vice versa. You cant compete there yet.
Apple also has bloatware (Game Center, Stocks, etc.) that is useless.
And it rolls out apps/features that aren’t very good.
Siri can’t hold a candle to Cortina and Maps has problems after all this time.
The 6 plus has a half-a $$ed feature that sort of minimizes screen size that is a ripoff of the S5.
If Gamecenter, stocks, and newsstand are bloatware, then most of Samsung’s software is bloatware. There’s a ton of people that do have a use for those things.
The one handed mode on the 6 is way better designed than a cropped screen. One handed mode on Samsung’s devices crunches the screen down to size and leaves it. The double touch is part of the experience and it allows for quick access once you get used to it. Take a look at it in action. You just bring down the navigation tap, and it automatically goes back full screen. That’s actually pretty nice.
Apple maps is getting better, but at least we get both. Apple maps actually is a better gps in some situations with Tom Tom and it’s a lot prettier. Siri’s good for a lot of things, but cortana and Google Now all have their strengths and weaknesses. It’s kind of ambiguous. You can’t prove either way. You’re just bashing.
true story.
i asked a friend the last time why did he have this samsung phone. he admitted he would love to have an iPhone. but the phone company is giving away the samsung phones away for free (in exchange for a multi year contract).
the way i see it, people want “free”. they want to be entitled to have something “free”. even it is not something they want.
and i asked these samsung phone users (friends), what apps they use. the standard stuff, facebook, whatsapp, instagram, e-mail.
comparing that to other iPhone using friends, they blog, make videos, do music and what not. imo that is outstanding. i think in my small controlled survey, iPhone users try to get as much as possible out of their devices.
and the samsung users do not even use the “fancy” functions (e.g. the bumping thing (sorry nothing else comes to mind right now))
That’s too bad your friends don’t use the great features. But that’s not a fault of the phone.
It actually is, because the user experience doesn’t facilitate ease of use. I can use the features as a tech, but most people find the iPhone easier to use because it’s been designed that way.
Herb, here’s the thing, it think Samsung phones are perfect for you. You like android, you love identifying with Samsung and their bashing strategy, you like the feature sets that do have their merits. But, you don’t have to force that down poor tech noobs throats whenever you recommend a phone. Us here, we can take it, hurl your insults. Just don’t hurt innocent people with a poor user experience.
I only have one question: what is Samsung’s budget for commercials?! Seems like every other day there’s another commercial about how they’re so much better than Apple!! Holy desperate measures Batman, give it a rest.
$10 bucks says this commercial will never hit the airwaves. Samsung is just coming off like a whiny brat crying ’cause another kid on the block has the same toy that he thought was so unique.
Was airing all day Sunday during every NFL game
Wow, that’s a bit of coin right there.
Yep. It was kinda odd. Waste of money for all those people who had no idea what they were talking about.
Unlike Samsung, Apple doesn’t feel the need to put in every feature possible to see if anything sticks. Apple will sometimes look at the market and go yes that works we will use that but also developing there own ideas.
I don’t see samsung mentioning that they started to sell gold versions of there phone after apple, or why they added a touch id sensor after apple. And no I don’t want your ugly stylus!
It’s incredible how aggressive samsung’s language gets in their ads. They are banging their heads on the wall, wanting to grab and shake by the shoulders every apple customer “why don’t you buy our products if they have better specs!!!”. Its all about the user experience, samy.
Well Star Trek beat everyone to it I guess… including Samsung (PADD)
http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/PADD
Screen size isn’t an innovation, it’s just a decision. Even apple knows this.
And guess what? The way people use their phones and the things they rely on them for have changed over the years, so apple decided it was time.
I can’t believe how successful is Samsung to make me turn away from considering their phones an option.
Thanks god in Europe we don’t have this type of commercials. Bashing other companies or products is strictly forbidden.
Apple realized it would be cool to have a huge iPhone a long time ago. They released one in 2010 with a 9.7″ screen and apps that really take advantage of the big display. Even on the tiny 5.7″ display sammy has these days, multi-window in required because otherwise those android apps would look so awkwardly stretched, and then you realise it has no drag&drop between the two apps.
Omg, they are so stupid :D :D :D
Galaxy Note 4 or iphone 6 plus? that seems to be the question these days. According with this website (which special feature is that you can see both phones in 3D webgl, making them turn from every angle http://versus.com/en/apple-iphone-6-plus-vs-samsung-galaxy-note-4) Galaxy Note has better specs. What do u think ????
Did Samsung copy Dell? http://www.gsmarena.com/dell_streak-3353.php
Samsung sales are taking a big hit and the S5 replacement isn’t going to be ready for nearly a year. So it is going to be a long winter.
There are a couple things they can do: easiest is a social media attack along with advertising about the new iPhones catching on fire, being built by slaves, or resulting in death. A parallel track would be to rebrand the S5 as the S6, maybe with slightly changed specs and cases in order to convince customers to return.
No matter what it will be a tough winter for Samsung as they slide far behind the other Android players like HTC and Moto.
It’s sad that Samsung makes all of these ads dissing the iPhone but when Jonathan Ross interviewed Tim Cook, he said Samsung wasn’t even a competitor
Not that anyone seems to care – but regardless of what you do, if you buy Apple you’re buying quality and dealing with a company that (at least appears) to value our privacy
Samsung, like all the droid phones, is bound by the Goole T&C and Privacy misnomer. I don’t know if Apple spies on my but I know for a fact that the droid devices I own (I have both) regularly send encrypted information back to Google – and if that doesn’t bother you, it should!
Now I know that both systems track us using WiFi and cell towers – which is bad enough; but Google seems to be recording just about everything we do – including who we call, who calls us, when and for what time… and that’s just some of what it admits in that privacy statement almost everyone didn’t read.
At the bottom of Apple’s page you’ll see it’s signed off by TRUSTe.com – Google… er…
Key phrase : Apple appears to ….
If you customers have blind faith how will you really know?
Everyone here needs to chill out. I remember my second smartphone – the Nokia N95. When I got one in 2007, I acted just like herb over there (except I wasn’t paid by Nokia like he’s paid by Samsung), and loudly boasted about my phone’s features.
The phone had a nice 5MP camera, IR blaster, removable battery, SD slot, lots of buttons, and a nice small screen (back when that was considered a plus). I was young and much nerdier so I thought it was awesome.
Then I tried an iPhone (original), and noticed that even though it had lower specs and fewer “features,” it was a far better smartphone. And that was all that mattered.
So chill out guys, let Samsung be Samsung and let their fans suffer with Touchwiz just like I once suffered with Symbian. It doesn’t have to affect you.
Exactly the same for me, I used to have Nokia N72 and 5800 lately. After my first iPhone 3G experience I felt myself as being robbed by Nokia.
samesung fan boys are:
They don’t want a fast phone, they want a quad-core phone.
They don’t want a good-looking display, they want a 1080p display.
They don’t want a battery that lasts XX hours, they want a X mAh batter.
They also want a small computer for a phone, not a PlaySchool- type toy
Apologies to PlaySchool.
Gamer:
Your post was nice but started with BS.
I’m not paid by Samsung or affiliated with them, other than using their great products (which I buy just like all of their millions of other customers).
In fact, my $10,000 bet will be opened to you, unless you are a chicken-$hit wimp who likes to lie.
With $10,000 I’d bet you could even get some girls to talk to you.
Bahaha! You probably can’t rub together $200 after you wasted all your money on Samsung products. Calling people “chicken-whatever” is quite like you though. Sounds like I really got to you there.
I don’t need money to talk to girls. It’s called not being an A hole. Try it some time and maybe you’ll finally make a friend.
I had a Nokia N82 and absolutely loved that phone. Around that time I just had my second kid and having the xenon flash was awesome taking pics in any lighting condition! I really wanted an iPhone, but couldn’t afford the data plan. When my company just got an AT&T Premier plan, I was able to convince the wife and that’s when I got my first iPhone, it was the iPhone4. Had every iPhone since.
Then came the iPhone6 and for the first time, I actually passed the upgrade to my wife(she usually gets my hand me downs). Surprising to me, she wanted the 6+. She said it’ll be a happy medium of an iPhone and iPad mini.
It is not wise action from Samsung, he is basically advertising Apple iPhone 6 (and also other Apple products) in his previous commercials :)) This commercial feels like Samsung has a problem, because new Apple iPhone 6 Plus has same size and almost same functionality like their product :)
It is free commercial for Apple ;)
Why all the angst and anger over this commercial (ran during the late football game last night)? I am a committed iPhone fanboy, owning every model except the 4s, with the 6 Plus on order. Still, Samsung is not being shrill, whiney, harsh, lying, or anything else. They had the courage to release the original galaxy, which tech journalists, especially places like this, Gellar (BGR), Mashable, and others universally dissed, even to the point of telling users you will look stupid using it (Gellar). But now that Apple has finally joined the party, all is well in the phablet universe.
Be secure in your decision – revel in your Apple fanboines – but no need to shout at the rain; Samsung is right in the ad, they’re just wrong about the superiority of their design.
Yes but they are dirty hypocrites…the new Note 4 rips off Apple’s innovative metal frame as antenna system (many are copying this now) as well as shiny chamfered edges for decoration.
Why are you encouraging people to be sheep?
Wasn’t there a famous ad that encouraged people to “think different?”
Too bad that no one here does that.
Well, of course they ripped off the idea. iPhone customers have been clamoring for a larger display, and many Android buyers have said that they would get an iPhone if they sell a phablet. That day has finally come. So, Samsung can sit there and point out the obvious. It won’t make any difference to the pantloads of people who switch from Android to iPhone 6 Plus.
I guess we shall see, right?
It’s amusing they make this point all while the new Note 4 “rips off” Apple’s invention of using a metal frame as the antenna system, and the iPhone 5’s shiny chamfered edges from 2012. Good job Samsung, even as you mock you are a hypocrit.
I am pretty sure Samsung went to a larger screen size early on so they could engineer a phone with decent battery life. The S5 is just now catching up to true all day battery life. I remember trying the Galaxy S3 out and had to return it as it barely made 8 hours.
That’s amazing, since every Samsung smartphone post-2007 owes its existence to the iPhone.
Turnabout is fair play.
Well it is true that the gadgets press is an echo chamber that loves smelling their ow farts. People have been wanting larger phones since the very beginning and tech bloggers love to read each others blogs and agree with each other in dismissing them.
It’s not so much an Apple thing but a blogger thing. Now even Grubber seems uncomfortable admitting he was wrong, just as people have trouble admitting they were wrong about the iPad mini, the original iPad… on and on
A phone with a bigger screen is a “new category”? Come on…
I guess no one will buy the 6 plus then, right?
Yes, Samsung’s ideas are so precious that a large screen can be one.
So Apple’s 2014 phablet looks like a Samsung Note from 2012. That means Apple’s iPhone touchscreen smartphone from 2007 looks like Samsung’s from 2005… oh wait, there was no innovative touchscreen smartphone from Samsung in 2005! So much for that ‘next big thing is here’ crap. Ackward!!!!
This is like when, at the launch of Porsche’s first SUV, GM comes out with an ad saying, “we’ve been making SUVs for 20 years.” Mmm… OK.
Samsung really does have apple on the fence as far as quality. Look at all the bad media apple is getting for the iPhone 6. A phone that bends in your pocket? Software updates that freeze your phone? Gotta say, Samsung definitely looking like the better option these days.
Clearly you’re just some brainless TOOL that buys into any bullshit he’s fed on the web (and WANTS to believe). You might actually want to catch a fucking CLUE before you blather over stuff you quite obviously don’t even have a MINIMUM of information about. Otherwise feel free to make an even BIGGER ass-hat of yourself.
A full NINE PEOPLE were effected by your buckshot “Bendgate”, you idiot, completely aside from THIS: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/09/consumer-reports-tests-iphone-6-bendgate/index.htm , read it and weep, moron.
And the update in question was a full NINETY MINUTES online, so not even a triple digit amount of people (of TENS OF MILLIONS) were effected, so maybe just STFU?
Apple Nation is a bunch of Id#@ts. Apple litigates not innovates! The iphone 6 is proof that apple is a behind the market in everything but id#@t followers!
Samsung is not samsung any more. More of a copycat,
http://smartfonearena.com/news/samsung-copying-apple/
yeah, They may be right
Who knows
That’s really great.
This is totally true.
iphone rocks… í ½í¸
Thank you Apple…
