It’ll be Office 2015 by the time they release it.

I think there never will be a new version. You can buy a Office 365 subscription.

Except that the O365 subscription allows for installation of Office 2011. Unless you just want to use office online.

I see no point on using Office other than embedding documents inside other documents.

I don’t know why but Office for mac cannot open embedded documents within documents. It is a shame having to use it.

How did you get through this article without mentioning how hilariously behind-the-times Office 2011 for Mac is? Not that I really care, as I’m a religious Google Docs user now.

Unfortunately until a real replacement for Outlook is released, 2011 is the only option. Or is it that Microsoft are trying to force users onto the online mail app within 365?

Our clients are F500 companies and most don’t allow cloud-based google/msoft documents for security and intellectual property reasons. I’m in the minority with a Mac. A big percentage of what we do is, unfortunately, with Office documents. No choice. Windows boxes are cheap and expendable, so corporations buy them and foist them on their employees. 2011 is getting buggier and laggier as time goes on. Microsoft, so, so far behind.
