Apple has today added 9 new locations to its Flyover feature in Maps (via MacRumors), including three in France, a landmark in Sweden, one in New Zealand, two in Arizona, and a couple more United States landmarks in Wyoming and Arkansas. Flyover allows users pinch to zoom and pan around high resolution views of more than a hundred different landmarks, and today’s additions bring the total number of supported locations up to 101.
Flyover has been around since the botched introduction of Apple’s built-in-house mapping service, but the app has gradually improved over the course of its lifetime. With iOS 8, Apple began adding support for a new feature called “City Tour,” which work like a guided 3D tour of many of the currently-supported Flyover locations. The City Tour of France, for instance, will zoom your view around to various notable landmarks like the Notre Dame cathedral and the Pantheon. Flyovers and City Tours are available in the latest Mac app as well.
Here’s the complete list of newly-added locations:
- Avignon, France
- Biarritz, France
- Perpignan, France
- Visby, Sweden
- Dunedin, New Zealand
- Devil’s Tower, Wyoming
- Grand Canyon, Arizona
- Meteor Crater, Arizona
- Royal Gorge, Arkansas
Additionally, Apple has today updated Siri to support movie showtimes in an assortment of new countries, including France, Germany, Australia, Italy, Spain, and Mexico. Movie showtime information is now available in a total of 13 countries.

Apple always forgets to leave out Durban, South Africa and uMhlanga, South Africa when we have flyover support already
Eish. That’s got to suck…but it could be worse, over here in Australia we have flyover tour of Perth but not of Sydney or Melbourne.
Wait, Sydney is there now.
Nice Additions.
Can’t wait until they add Lexington, KY. As soon as they do, I’ll switch over from Google maps.
Seriously?
I am pretty sure the Royal Gorge isn’t in Arkansas but is on the Arkansas River in Colorado. Just to let you know.
