AppleCampus7 (1)

Apple today shared new photos from within the currently under construction Campus 2 (via Mashable), as well as previously unknown details about the site set to become the company’s new headquarters when construction completes early next year.

The most impressive shots and most of the new details surround the on-site auditorium separate from the main building, where the company will indeed hold future press events. That was expected, but Mashable seems to have gotten the inside scoop from Apple and notes the company is calling the auditorium “Theatre” internally and that it will be “the new stage where Apple will publicly debut its products to the media and, ultimately, the world.”

New drone flyover gives up-close look at Apple’s rapidly progressing Campus 2

This latest drone flyover of Apple’s under construction Campus 2 project is perhaps our best look yet at the site that will soon become Apple’s main headquarters and home to around 13,000 of its employees. The footage comes courtesy of Duncan Sinfield (via MR).

Since last checking in, you can see that Apple has now completed erecting most of the four stories that make up the main, circular structure. And if you’ve been keeping track (we have in our continually updated construction progress timeline), you’ll also notice that much of the surrounding campus taking shape with the underground auditorium, parking structure, R&D facilities and more all starting to look real.

If all goes to plan and Apple sticks to its general construction schedule posted on the City of Cupertino’s website (below), it will wrap up construction by the end of 2016 and begin moving its employees onto the campus from its current HQ down the road and elsewhere.

If you want to check out how the project has progressed so far, you can head over to our construction progress timeline that includes drone videos, official aerial shots from Apple and City of Cupertino, and news surrounding the project since before construction began.

The video, shot in 4K over Labor Day weekend earlier this month, gets us up close with Apple’s rapidly progressing Campus 2 project scheduled for completion in late 2016. Above Reno notes the video was “filmed at or below 400 feet above ground level with clearance from the local FAA office.” expand full story

Apple gives new look at Campus 2 construction progress in updated aerial photo

In an updated aerial photo published today, Apple gives us our latest look at construction progress on its new ‘Campus 2’ building in Cupertino.

In the photo, we get a closer look at new developments on the main building, as well as the surrounding campus including a planned 1,000 seat auditorium, 300,000 square foot R&D facilities, a parking structure and other buildings separate from the main circular structure. The photos were published to the City of Cupertino’s webpage tracking progress and road closures on the project for the public.

Apple hasn’t updated its planned general project schedule on the City of Cupertino’s website and still plans to complete building construction on Campus 2 by the end of 2016 when it can begin to move in approximately 13,000 of its employees.

We’ve been keeping track of construction progress on Campus 2 with the latest photos, news, and drone flyovers in our timeline here.

Apple shares updated aerial image showing Campus 2 construction progress

Just after sharing our latest drone flyover video of Apple’s under construction “Campus 2” in Cupertino this weekend (this time in 4K), Apple today shared an updated aerial shot of the campus.

The shot shows early progress being made on the structure of the main building and other buildings on the campus as well as earthwork and greenery on the surrounding property.

The City of Cupertino’s website, which tracks construction and traffic updates related to the Campus 2 project for locals hasn’t changed the project schedule that still calls for building construction to wrap up by the end of 2016.

Apple has recently opened a number of smaller satellite offices in Sweden, Seattle, and Cambridge, Englandbut it expects its new 176 acre Cupertino campus to hold around 12,000 of its employees when construction is complete.

Check out the latest drone flyover video of the Campus 2 site (in 4K!) from over the weekend.

Dutch city of Rotterdam gets the 3D Apple Maps imagery and Flyover [Update: Strasbourg & Malmö too]

Apple Maps has brought 3D imagery and a Flyover tour to the Netherlands for the first time, with Rotterdam leading the way. The second-largest city in the country, and home to one of the largest ports in the world, Rotterdam may have been selected for the proliferation of funky architecture.

Dutch site iculture put together the above video of the Flyover tour, which highlights among other places the Euromast tower – a popular tourist attraction – the Erasmusbrug single-sided suspension bridge and the famous (and very cute) Kubuswoningen cube houses.

Update: Strasbourg in France and Malmö in Sweden just got added too (via iGen).

Apple recently added nine other Flyover locations around the world, and switched from Google Maps to Apple Maps for the Find My iPhone service on iCloud.
