Apple has updated its online store to start accepting PayPal as a payment method in both the United States and United Kingdom. PayPal was already an option for those who shopped through the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore, but this is the first time the company has offered it through the Apple Online Store.
PayPal previously took a swipe at Apple over its cloud platform’s security issues, but tried to be friendly when it came to mobile payments—possibly because PayPal felt threatened by Apple’s jump into that space.
PayPal recently beat Apple to the punch in offering watch-based payments at physical stores by launching a Pebble application.

Hardly surprising – end of the day when you’re trying to spur on sales it makes little sense putting up barriers to someone being able to buy their products – and if that means teaming up with payment companies like Paypal then all power to them. They also seem to be making more payment options available to those of us outside of the US – they’ve just made it possible to purchase using AMEX on the iTunes store in New Zealand where before it was only Visa and MasterCard. The net result? AMEX now has a new customer (me).
Spot on comment. Makes sense to make your goods available to as many people as possible by letting them pay in as many different ways as possible.
This is good news for a lot of folk.
In Germany you can already pay with paypal since one or two years there
I wonder if this will come to Canada soon. We still are without iTunes radio, and it’s been how long? I hope Apple can get on this because having the option to use PayPal is so long overdue.
Good to have options.
Sorry no PayPal in UK….I check regularly….checked again now. No AMEX either in the UK
Sorry AMEX yes….no Paypal on iTunes UK
