How-To: Add 9to5Mac and our sister sites to Apple’s News app in iOS 9

The third beta release of iOS 9 is the first to include News, the new Apple-developed news aggregating application debuted at WWDC. We’ve already posted a Hands-On Guide to News — and we’re in there! — so here’s a quick guide to adding 9to5Mac and our sister sites to the News app…

After you’ve gone through the initial setup of News, click on the Search tab at the bottom of the screen to search for 9to5Mac or 9to5. When the search runs, you should see 9to5Mac at the top of the list of Channels. If you tap on the 9to5Mac name, you’ll be taken to a collection of stories — but you can save yourself an extra step and tap the + button here, instead, to add us to your Favorites.

Alternately, once you’re reading the 9to5Mac page, you can tap the + button in the upper right corner to add us. You’ll get a confirmation that we’ve been “Added to Favorites.” That’s it — from now on, we’ll appear under the Favorites tab. The procedure is the same on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

You can also add our daily deals site 9to5Toys, our Google-focused site 9to5Google, and our electric vehicles site Electrek using the same search and + button technique. There’s great content to be found on all of our sites, so we hope you’ll enjoy reading them in the News app.

Just installed beta 3, but no News app showing up. Maybe only in US/UK at the moment? I’m in Belgium.

Change your region to US inside general -> language & region or something like that. The icon will pop up.

  5. Why is the icon for 9to5mac a bunch of what appears to be Nokia Lumia devices (http://i.imgur.com/jLa7qnu.jpg)? Are you trolling us?
