Apple confirms new international pricing for iCloud storage, but you can’t get it yet

After announcing significantly more generous pricing for iCloud storage last week, but showing only U.S. costs, Apple today confirmed international pricing for the simplified three-tier structure.

U.K. pricing starts at 79p/month for 50GB, rises to £2.49/mo for 200GB, and tops out at 1TB for £6.99/mo. Euro pricing is €0.99/€2.99/€9.99 respectively. Unusually for Apple, these prices are pretty much on par with U.S. pricing after allowing for VAT (European sales tax).

You can check out pricing for other countries in the Apple support document, updated today.

Note that you cannot immediately upgrade to these new storage tiers: iPhones currently show the old pricing when attempting an upgrade. It’s likely that the new pricing will start alongside the public rollout of iOS 9 later today.

It was revealed yesterday that Apple is creating a new software platform to unify all its cloud-based services.

  1. This looks very good. I’m happy for that. I’ll definitely be getting 50GB at least.

But the free storage is still 5? Why not make it 10 or 20? =/

Because people store their content on the devices locally. lol.

I’m just being an hypocrite in place of Phil Schiller who said people store their photos, videos, etc. on the cloud when asked why Apple were still making a 16GB iPhone last year.

Now it would be funny if Phil were to say this if someone asked him why the entry plan is still 5GB…

Someone needs to ask him this question soon, he will be trapped after what he said last year… xDa

Will my 20GB 0.99€ plan be automaticaly upgarded to 50GB? That is, will current plan be automaticaly upgraded?

Before Apple announced the price adjustments, Canada’s prices matched the U.S.
I have been upgrading to 200 GB for about 6 months now and was paying $3.99. So, for me there is no change. :(
I was excited about saving a dollar each month, but all that just went away. Oh well.

The new plans are still not visible! They’re the same old plans.

I was on the old £6.99 per month 500Gb plan – that is now showing as my current plan on the upgrade screen, but now priced at £6.99 per year with the option of upgrading to 1Tb for £6.99 per month. No brainer for me. 500Gb it is….
