After setting up shop just a few blocks away from Apple’s signature retail store on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, Microsoft says that iPhone users will be welcome to drop into the new Microsoft Store opening today, reports the NY Times.
“If you bring your iPhone in here, I’d love to show you how to use Office on it,” said Kelly Soligon, senior director of retail stores marketing at Microsoft.
While the piece notes that previous Microsoft Stores have seen few visitors, the company is hoping that its recently-launched Surface Books will change that.

“It is the first multistory Microsoft Store and only the second that is not in a shopping mall. The other one is in Portland, Ore.”
That store in Portland? Literally one block away from a brand new Apple Store. New store is here: https://goo.gl/maps/D82xvpGEMZ82 and just east of that store is the microsoft store
Oh My Dog! Zune tables!
The benches are squircles!
I bet this photo was from opening day.
Wrong set of tables, wrong set of chairs. Those chairs make you sit sideways which means if you actually sit on them, you will not sit on them for too long because it will be uncomfortable. Have they even thought this through? Probably not at all. I would not sit there.
The foreground looks like GuitarCenter’s keyboard area, the background looks like a very clean GameStop.
All I see is benches to pull out and sit on. Not sure what you’re looking at.
You do not pull those huge blocks, it’s inconvenient. Plus, as I was saying, you would need to sit sideways, I won’t be lifting my legs up just to be able to sit there as a normal person using such a device.
Right because everyone assumed Microsoft would be checking people at the door and only letting non-iPhone users in. What a strange statement to make.
Look at the messy clutter in the picture – you call this “Apple Store-like”?
