What’s the one thing cooler than using an Apple Watch app to summon your Tesla from the garage to your front door? Asking Siri to do it for you. That’s what developer Sam Gabbay has achieved, using Apple’s HomeKit.
It’s not exactly plug-and-play. You’ll need Xcode, and have to install four other apps to do the necessary configuring, but Gabbay provides instructions on GitHub and a 7-minute video tutorial on YouTube.
Gabbay also has his own iPhone and Apple Watch app on iTunes.
Siri is set to face some tough competition from some of its original developers, who left Apple after disagreements about the future of the platform. They will be showing off ‘Viv’ later today. Tesla itself may one day face competition from an Apple Car, as some of its senior hires have joined Apple’s car project.
