Tim Cook set to appear on Good Morning America tomorrow, defends AirPods in teaser clip

Following the announcement of the iPhone 7, Apple Watch Series 2, and AirPods, Apple CEO Tim Cook is set to appear on ABC’s Good Morning America. In a teaser clip shared this evening, Cook can be seen defending Apple’s new truly wireless AirPods.

While the full interview is set to air tomorrow morning during Good Morning America at some point between 7am and 9am ET, the clip shared this evening offers a brief glimpse of the conversation. Robin Roberts asks Cook about the likelihood of the AirPods falling out during use, but as you would expect, Cook strongly defended the usability of them.

Cook explained to Roberts in the interview that he has been using the AirPods for a while now and has “never” had one fall out. He noted that headphones with wires are actually more likely to fall out, especially during exercise, than truly wireless earbuds like the AirPods. Cook says this is because of the weight that the wire adds to traditional earbuds. The Apple exec also pointed to the accompanying carrying/charging case that the AirPods will ship with as a way for users to keep track of each earbud.

“I’ve been on treadmills, walking, doing all the things you normally do,” Cook said, adding, “You know how you walk around with the earbuds and they’re constantly getting caught on something? You never have that problem.”

During the full interview, Cook will likely touch on the rest of Apple’s announcements from last week. The removal of the headphone jack will almost certainly be a topic of discussion, with Cook again likely to take the defensive approach amid the mixed reaction from the general public.
