[Update: The system appears to be back up and running after about an hour and a half of downtime. Keep in mind lines might be longer than normal this afternoon and evening.]
Tons of Apple users are excited to pick up their new iPhone XS, XS Max and Apple Watch Series 4 today. Unfortunately, we’re hearing that Apple Stores are currently seeing downtime with the pickup and point-of-sale system, preventing customers from getting their devices.
We’re hearing from lots of readers that Apple’s point-of-sale and pickup system has been down for about an hour or so. From all accounts, it seems like a nationwide or potentially global issue.
Even thought it’s an S year, there have been a mix of problems with logistics. Just last night, pre-order customers have seen their shipping dates slip from today to Monday, although some changed again to be arriving today.
As for the current issue at Apple Stores, we’ve heard from readers across the country experiencing the problem, with one account mentioning talk of it being a global issue at one of Apple’s Chicago locations.
If you’re heading to your local Apple Store today, be prepared there could be a longer wait than normal to get your pre-ordered items.
