The Everyone Can Create curriculum is now available as a free download in the App Store, after initially being announced at the March education event. The series is made up of four main interactive books, spanning photography, music, video production and drawing. All the activities revolve around creation on the iPad itself.
There is also a teacher guide to aid with learning. Apple pitches these as complete set of digital materials for schools to teach in lessons to kids and are offered for free online.
The ‘Everyone Can Create’ curriculum joins the existing ‘Everyone Can Code’ series, which educational institutions have already deployed in classrooms across the US. Apple educators have been using a preview of the creative course since March.
The drawing course shows how to use an iPad with an Apple Pencil to do simple sketches, word art and still life, all the way up to designing a book. Similarly, the photo book discusses framing, compositions as well as image editing techniques and creating projects like collages.
The four tracks combine to offer dozens of hours of learning materials. Each book is beautifully illustrated and feature multimedia content like slideshows and inline videos to offer additional guidance and context.
The teacher guide offers advice on how to actually do the activities in classrooms as well as suggestions on how to integrate the course into other classes and existing lesson plans.
These courses are designed to be run in schools but there’s nothing stopping you from following along in the comfort of your own home. All you need is an iPad and an internet connection to get started. Everyone Can Create is offered in English today, with Apple adding additional languages by the end of the year.
