The latest Apple TV+ lineup is arguably the streamer’s best ever

I’ve been saying it a lot lately, but Apple TV+ is having a very good run of shows at the moment. Not long ago, I highlighted how the streamer owned three of the best shows running on air anywhere. But the current lineup gives that recent peak a run for its money. With the three series airing right now, Apple TV+ might just have its best lineup ever.

Apple TV+ keeps hitting new heights this fall

Back in early October, Apple TV+ viewers got to enjoy three fantastic shows airing all at once: Bad Monkey, Slow Horses, and Pachinko.

Apple has historically had one big series air at a time, and on rare occasions two. But for a brief window it had three of its best series all releasing new episodes at once.

Now, the same thing’s happening again—and I think this round could be even better.

In fact, it’s probably the best time ever to be an Apple TV+ subscriber.

This latest round of three heavyweights consists of the following:

#1: Silo

Silo season 2

If you’re an Apple TV+ subscriber, you’re probably well acquainted with Silo. Its highly anticipated second season just debuted, and we’re set to score new Silo episodes every week all the way through January 17, 2025 (the same day Severance, another much-hyped show, returns).

For the unfamiliar, here’s Apple’s summary of Silo:

Silo is the story of the last ten thousand people on Earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and any who try to find out face fatal consequences. Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer, who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.

I held off watching the first season longer than most, because it just struck me as too dark and depressing. That’s not at all the case. After finally giving in and watching, I immediately read the Silo book trilogy and loved it. Critics have given season 2 a lot of praise, and seasons 3 and 4 are already in the works.

Silo is available to watch on Apple TV+.

#2: Shrinking

Shrinking Apple TV+

Ever heard of Ted Lasso? Of course you have. But did you know that the show’s creator, Bill Lawrence, made another fantastic Apple TV+ series? Actually he’s made two more (hi Bad Monkey), but his first Lasso follow-up was Shrinking.

Here’s Apple’s summary:

Shrinking follows a grieving therapist who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives … including his own.

The ensemble cast for this full-of-heart comedy is arguably just as strong as Lasso’s, with the masterful comedian Harrison Ford leading the pack. Like Lasso, Shrinking can get pretty serious at times (for a comedy), but that’s no reason to avoid it.

Shrinking is available to watch on Apple TV+.

#3: Bad Sisters

Bad Sisters, like Silo, is a series I held off watching for far too long. A dark comedy about tight-knit sisters plotting to kill their brother-in-law? It didn’t appeal to me. But finally, the avalanche of critical praise led me to give it a shot, and it became one of my all-time TV+ favorites.

Here’s the summary from Apple:

The tight-knit Garvey sisters have always looked out for each other. When their brother-in-law winds up dead, his life insurers launch an investigation to prove malicious intent — and set their sights on the sisters, all of whom had ample reason to kill him.

The second season just started airing, and will continue running through Christmas Day—plenty of time to catch up on season one and dive in.

Bad Sisters is available to watch on Apple TV+.

Wrap-up

No TV series will be right for everyone, but the shows Apple has been airing this fall are without a doubt some of its best. And to have three excellent shows at once last month, then another three that might be even better only a month later? It’s hard to find a better lineup in the five years Apple TV+ has existed.

What do you think of Apple’s current TV lineup? Is there a better run you can think of? Let us know in the comments.
