Your 2024 Apple Books year in review is now available, plus best of picks

2024 is almost over, and Apple Books is ready to celebrate the year in publishing. Last year’s new ‘Year in Review’ feature is back again for Books users, launching today. You’ll also find editorial lists in the Books app for best books and audiobooks of 2024, author debuts, and more.

Year in Review returns for sophomore Books outing

Apple Books may not have nearly the customer base as Amazon’s Kindle and Audible, but I’ve always loved the app’s interface and its editorial content.

Last year’s addition of a Year in Review feature was a great surprise, one that I found better executed than the more popular ‘Apple Music Replay’ feature.

Apple Books Year in Review

Now, Year in Review is back for a second year, accessible from inside the Books app’s Home tab. It offers a variety of interesting data points from your year of reading activity, including:

  • how many books you’ve read
  • total reading minutes
  • longest book and audiobook
  • most read genre and author
  • reading goal stats
  • and more

Editorial lists highlight publishing world’s best

Today, the Books editorial team has also published several end of year lists:

The best book and audiobook lists each contain 20 titles, with some overlap but a lot of variation between the two. Titles found on both lists include Sally Rooney’s Intermezzo, Percival Everett’s James, Kristin Hannah’s The Women, and more.

You can find a ‘Best debuts of 2024’ list inside the app too, accessible from the Book Store tab. It contains 10 debuts from new authors that Apple’s team has selected.

Finally, the top selling books and audiobooks of 2024 are available across Fiction and Nonfiction categories.

Apple’s media teams have been busy making their end of year picks in recent weeks. We’ve seen similar efforts from Apple Podcasts and Apple Music lately.

Alongside today’s Year in Review launch for Books users, Apple Music has also debuted its annual Music Replay yearly recap.
