Pluribus is Apple TV’s biggest drama series launch ever

Apple TV today revealed that Pluribus has become its most successful new drama series debut ever, topping the viewership set by Severance season two earlier in the year. Via Deadline, Apple says Vince Gilligan’s mysterious new show has captivated audiences and set a new viewership record for biggest global drama series launch for the streamer.

Pluribus was most popular in US, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Mexico, India and France. New episodes of the show are rolling out each Friday, with episode four dropping in a couple of hours.

As is typical, Apple is not sharing hard numbers about Pluribus’ performance, over than indicating it has set a new record for the service. Third-party viewership numbers from Nielsen will be published in a couple of weeks.

The first season of Pluribus is nine episodes in length. The season finale is set to premiere on December 26. A second season is already in development, with Apple giving the series a two-season commitment upfront when it won the rights to the show back in 2022 in a competitive situation.

The success caps off a strong 2025 for Apple TV (formerly Apple TV+), which started the year with the explosive growth of Severance season two and now rounds out the year with another sci-fi smash hit in Pluribus. The service will also likely get another big boost in audience when F1: The Movie starts streaming on December 12.

As well as a steady stream of new content, in 2026, Apple TV engagement will also be boosted by the inclusion of Formula 1 and Major League Soccer in the base subscription. Apple TV is priced at $12.99 per month, and is part of the Apple One bundle.
