Apple today announced its second-generation AirTag, bringing major improvements to the incredible popular item tracker. Here are three things you might have missed.
AirTag 2 details
1. Apple Watch upgrade
For Apple Watch users, AirTag 2 comes with a big update: support for Precision Finding.
For the first time, Apple Watch users can use Precision Finding when locating an AirTag. This is supported on Apple Watch Series 9 or later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later.
Precision Finding guides you to exactly where your AirTag is located. It uses haptic, visual, and audio feedback to help you find your AirTag, while displaying a large arrow on your iPhone or Apple Watch screen.
2. Same battery life, same batteries
The new AirTag uses the same battery as its predecessor, which is the generic CR2032 coin battery. Apple also says battery life is the same, with AirTag 2 lasting for more than a year on a standard battery.
3. Accessories

Finally, AirTag 2 is the same physical size as its predecessor. This means all of your current accessories will still work with the new model.
This is particularly notable if you have something like a suitcase with a built-in AirTag holder, so you don’t have to get a new suitcase to accommodate your new AirTag.
Wrap up
AirTag 2 is available to order now. Pricing is unchanged at $29 for a single AirTag and $99 for a four-pack.
