Later this year when you install iOS 27, there may be a new ‘Siri’ app on your iPhone’s Home Screen.

This is just one part of Apple’s planned AI overhaul for Siri in iOS 27.

And based on the popularity of third-party AI apps, the new Siri app could become an instant hit.

That could solve most of Siri’s current problems. I like to continue scrolling or moving between apps while Siri takes its long time to process my request. Several times I have had to ask again because the interface went away, and then the context is lost. Having an app with a chat history and a place where I can see the answer after it is processed would be great. ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude will probably continue being my preferred tools but nice to see Siri finally joining.

Here are the rumored features, based on reporting from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

  • Conversational Chatbot: Like ChatGPT, the Siri app will allow you to have back-and-forth conversations with Apple’s assistant.
  • UI: The app will look a lot like Apple’s Messages app, with “chat bubbles and a text entry field.”
  • Text or Voice: There’s a toggle for easily switching between voice mode and text interactions.
  • Uploads: You can upload photos and files and ask Siri about them.
  • History: When you open the app, you’ll see a list view of prior conversations, or an optional grid view of “rounded rectangles with text previews.”
  • Pins: Similar to Messages, you’ll be able to pin your go-to chats.
  • Cross-platform: The new Siri app will be available across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, with iCloud syncing your conversations.
  • Personal Requests: Siri will understand your personal context and be able to interact with other apps on your iPhone, so you can ask about Messages, Calendar events, Mail, and much more.
  • Suggested Prompts: To help you get started with new chats, Siri will “offer suggested prompts based on prior usage.”
  • Save to Notes: Per The Information, Siri will be able to save data from chats directly to Apple Notes.

Siri’s iOS 27 app: wrap-up

The list above is just scratching the surface of what Siri is expected to offer in iOS 27.

Thanks to the assistant’s new Google Gemini-based foundation, it will be able to do many of the things that Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude can do today—but with the added benefit of deep integration across your apps and the Apple ecosystem overall.
