AT&T announces new $15/month ‘Build-a-Plan’ wireless plan

AT&T has just announced a new wireless plan—‘Build-a-Plan’—that lets customers choose exactly the right features for them, and it starts at just $15/month. Here are the details.

AT&T’s Build-a-Plan lets you add and remove features each month for a personalized, flexible plan

Wireless plans often come with a lot of costs baked in that you have no control over. But AT&T’s new ‘Build-a-Plan’ seeks to put full cost control in users’ hands.

Build-a-Plan focuses on affordability and flexibility, letting wireless users customize their plan from month to month rather than being locked into a single high rate.

You can see a breakdown of pricing below, which starts at $15/month for unlimited talk, text, and 1 GB of data.

Personally, I love the transparency and number of options that are provided by Build-a-Plan.

If you’re someone who never uses Hotspot, for example, you can get 15 GB of data, plus unlimited talk and text for just $25/month. That’s a great deal for a major carrier like AT&T.

Also, if you’re on a tight budget, you can add and remove features from your plan every single month. So if you know you’ll need a lot of data one month for a vacation, you can bump up to the unlimited plan, then scale down the month after as needed.

Here’s Jenifer Robertson, executive vice president and general manager, AT&T Consumer:

“Customers want plans that fit their lives.  Other carriers offer structured, one-size-fits-all plans bundled with extra services that customers aren’t asking for while calling it ‘savings.’ By giving our customers the freedom to tailor their wireless service month to month, we are giving them an affordable way to connect to America’s largest wireless network and still control their budget. It is a win-win.”

AT&T says that Build-a-Plan will officially go live for users starting next week, on Wednesday, May 27. You’ll be able to sign up at att.com/plans/build-a-plan/.
