With the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max now starting $100 more than their predecessors, Apple has also applied the price hike to the entire iPhone lineup, including the phones that didn’t change at all.
That means the base model iPhone 17 now starts at $899, up from $799. Similarly, the iPhone Air breaks into the four digit club, now priced at $1099 to start.
The same $100 price bumps also applies to iPhone 17e, and iPhone 16. The iPhone 17e is now $699, up from its previous $599 floor.
Of course, people may balk at the fact that the same iPhone models that have been on sale for a year already are now more expensive without any changes.
But Apple is continuing to react to changing market conditions when it comes to rising component pricing like RAM and storage, and ‘only’ a $100 jump is less than some analysts had been predicting.
Here’s the full ladder of iPhone pricing following today’s bumps:
- iPhone 17e: $699 for 256 GB
- iPhone 16: $799 for 128 GB
- iPhone 17: $899 for 256 GB
- iPhone Air: $1099 for 256 GB
- iPhone 18 Pro: $1199 for 256 GB
- iPhone 18 Pro Max: $1299 for 256 GB
- iPhone Duo: $1999 for 256 GB
The iPhone 17 Pro has been discontinued following the introduction of iPhone 18 Pro. The base model iPhone 17 will likely be replaced by iPhone in spring 2027.
Apple has split the release calendar so this fall they are launching just the new high-end models, with updates to the base model and Air expected in the March/April timeframe.
