Update: The Auction is now closed with the winning bidder donating $330,001 to the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights
Going once, going twice, almost sold! Just two and a half weeks ago, Charitybuzz kicked off a campaign to raise money for the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights by offering the opportunity to have lunch with Apple CEO Tim Cook at the company’s campus in Cupertino. The auction’s goal is set at $100,000 – twice that of the previous year’s auction of coffee for two with Mr. Cook – and the clock is about to run out on this year’s chance to dine with the chief executive.
For perspective, last year’s auction for a similar prize (coffee with Cook) and the same charity far exceeded it’s goal of $50,000 raising an astounding $610,000 for the RFK group by the time it ended. This year’s charity auction for lunch with Tim Cook is an absolute bargain in comparison as the latest bid at the time of writing is sitting at only $180,000 with less than five hours before the closing bell…That could certainly soar higher if a bidding war breaks out during the final hours of the auction, but at first glance it looks like the previous year’s effort to raise money for charity by auctioning a meal with Tim Cook will be much more successful.
Maybe coffee just happens to be more appealing than lunch for those generous enough to donate to charity for the chance to dine with the Apple CEO, or this year’s auction lacked the same novelty appeal as the first auction. At any rate, if you plan on placing a last minute bid then keep an eye on the auction as it’s scheduled to close today at 2 pm EST.
Cook even sweetened the deal by adding an invitation to attend a future Apple event with the executive.

Reason for high bidding last year was partly down to false bids from people unable to pay up after. So actual people who wanted it were probably fooled and therefore bid more. VIP at an Apple event sounds cool though, most likely WWDC
Meal, schmeal ….
The reason the bidding’s so low is because everyone’s just about
had it with this boob, Cook.
This Beats thing should be the last straw for those who were teetering on the edge towards leaning to this correct way of thinking. FEH. #TimMustGO
Maybe you should lobby for him to go, I’m pretty sure you have good connections with the board of directors.
How dare you ever say anything contrary to iPadCary, you subhuman filth! Everyone knows that he stands for truth, justice, and the Apple way better than anyone on the executive board, and in fact was personally commissioned by Steve Jobs before his death to take up the mantle of knowing exactly what is best for Apple.
(understand, of course, that the above is sarcasm and that your post is absolutely correct)
The problem with all this is that everybody would love to meet up with him. But truthfully only people with money can do this. What about all the apple users who are true and loyal with this company? Not everybody can afford 330,000 dollars just so they can meet with the guy. In my opinion, it just pushes me away cause there is no way i can come up with 330,000 dollars so i can have lunch with tim cook. There should be more cheaper charities for all the apple users out there that want to thank him for all of his hard work and effort.
Yes, you can offer anything up to $10,99 to share a stick of chewing gum with him whilst sitting on the perimeter wall.
I would love to give $500,000 to Apple to simply have lunch with Tim Cook. To raise assets, crowdfunding would be necessary.
