TuneIn Radio is the latest addition to Apple’s short list of App Store apps that work with the iPhone’s CarPlay feature. The service streams “over 100,000 real radio stations from around the world, including sports, news, talk, and music.” The latest version of TuneIn for iPhone brings radio station streaming to the CarPlay interface and includes Apple Watch support for controlling stations from your wrist.
Once you install the latest version of TuneIn Radio on your iPhone, the app will appear on any CarPlay-compatible in-dash receiver when connected. The CarPlay version of TuneIn Radio is designed to make finding something to play quick and easy. Similar to iHeartRadio, TuneIn Radio brings real radio stations with online streaming to CarPlay (if only the iPhone could play FM stations).
The main view presents sections for local radio stations near you, recently played stations from the app, trending stations among all TuneIn Radio listeners, and genre sections including music and sports. Each station is within a few taps from the main screen and can be controlled from the Now Playing section within the app or the main CarPlay home screen.
The update also includes support for the Apple Watch ahead of its release on Friday. TuneIn says listeners will be able to “change stations, jump to recent & related stations, follow stations and shows, play, pause & skip through content, and see what’s playing” from the Apple Watch.
You can find more CarPlay apps here and Apple Watch apps here. TuneIn Radio is available for free on the App Store.

Does TuneIn include Clear Channel radio stations?
wait, apple watch support…. so thy want you to take both hands off the wheel to change stations on the watch?
I guess the idea is if you are on say the maps screen you can change the radio from your watch but as you say it does seem mighty dangerous!
I’ve been using TuneIn for many years for streaming radio. It’s not perfect but it’s the best radio streaming app out there in my experience. I don’t have a car that can do carplay yet but at some point I will and this is nice to hear.
can’t SIRI do this for you hence no need to take hands off the wheel?
Hey, there is “Favorite” tab in TuneIn Radio app for Carplay? :D
