If you pre-ordered a fancy new iPhone SE or 9.7-inch iPad Pro and expected it to be delivered today, you might have to wait a little longer depending on which part of the country you live in.
While my colleague Ben Lovejoy across the pond is already journaling his day one impressions of his new iPad Pro (here they are!) and has barely had time to pay attention to his new 4-inch iPhone, a number of 9to5Mac readers (including myself) have received alerts detailing likely delays in delivery due to severe weather conditions.
The culprit to potential iPhone SE and iPad Pro delivery delays is a giant thunderstorm band stretching across the midwest toward the east coast. My own pre-ordered Apple hardware comes from a fulfillment center in Nashville, Tennessee, then goes north to Kentucky, down to Pensacola, Florida, and across Mobile, Alabama before reaching my front porch.
A quick look at the radar shows that the whole route is impacted by the severe weather, which includes possible tornados in some parts of the country, so it’s understandable why some pre-orders might not arrive today. FedEx has separately posted an alert about package deliveries today due to the weather.
If you’re banking on unboxing a new iPhone SE or iPad Pro today, you might test your luck at Apple Stores, carrier stores, and other retail partners. T-Mobile has a BOGO promo on iPhones, Best Buy is bundling iPad Pros, and Apple Stores are usually safe bets on day one stock, but obviously inventory may vary and you’ll also want to consider the weather conditions yourself.
So if you’re tracking delayed shipments, I’m right there with you … in the meantime we can all stay tuned for Ben’s thoughts later today and read in envy. :)

Mine was pushed back due to a delayed flight 😐
Hey, any tips on running a tech website? I want to focus on Mac and iPhone apps. I made a post already. It would be nice if you check it out.
Yeah, don’t spam on other sites.
Depends on whether you have something intelligent to add to the discussion, or you plan to be like most (all?) of the Apple-centric sites already in existence (publishing unresearched drivel/rumors just to get hits).
Out for delivery. N. Florida
Ben and that island traditionally have been shafted with pre-orders and releases, you deserve to benefit it for a change. Enjoy!
Mine was originally schedule for a 28th drop off, but it’s on route today, the 31st.
Another great example of publish, for christ’s sake. Publish, even if its drivel.
