We’ll of course be bringing you all the news from today’s Mac-focused keynote presentation as it happens, but many also like to watch the live presentation. The ‘hello again’ tagline suggests Apple thinks it’s announcing something pretty special.
The keynote kicks off in the morning in Cupertino, and the start time of course depends on your time-zone:
- 10am PT
- 1pm ET
- 6pm London
- 7pm Western Europe …
On most devices, you’ll want to head to Apple’s webpage for the event. This is currently showing a holding page, but the streaming video feed will start there shortly before the keynote begins.
You’ll need a compatible device, but that’s unlikely to be an issue for 9to5Mac readers. For the record, these are the requirements:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7.0 or later, a Mac with Safari 6.0.5 or later on OS X v10.8.5 or later, or a PC with Microsoft Edge on Windows 10.
If you want to watch it on Apple TV, most devices will do the job:
Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) with software 6.2 or later, or an Apple TV (4th generation).
With older models, Apple will push the channel (turn off and on again if it doesn’t appear ahead of time). With newer models, you need to download the Apple Events app from the App Store if you don’t already have it.
A series of leaks, topped off by apparent images of the new machine, mean we think we have a good idea of what to expect from the new MacBook Pro models – but it’s still possible Apple has a surprise or two in store. Headline features include a Magic Toolbar and Touch ID. In yesterday’s poll, almost two-thirds of you are planning to buy it – both myself and Zac among them.
Things are fuzzier on the MacBook Air side, with most expecting a relatively minor refresh, mostly focused on the switch to USB-C, but it’s unclear whether a rumored new 13-inch machine will be a slightly updated MacBook Air or a slightly larger MacBook. A refresh of the iMac is also thought to be on the cards.
We’re also expecting to see a new personalized TV show app for the Apple TV, and there will doubtless be some other smaller announcements along the way. One thing we won’t see, however, are the AirPods going on sale – Apple has apparently hit a snag with these.
The online store is already down in readiness for the new devices, suggesting that at least some of them will be available for sale or pre-order immediately after the event.
