Canary firmware adds support for Person Detection

Canary will be rolling out Person Detection to all of its customers over the next two weeks, as promised. The company claims that the update is automatic and nothing needs to be done on the user’s end.

With Person Detection on your device, Canary can distinguish between people and other motion in your home. If a person is detected by your Canary, Canary Flex, or Canary View devices, you’ll receive a specific Person alert.

Person alerts are exactly what you think they are. They’ll alert you if someone who isn’t recognized comes across your Canary. The company claims it can intelligently notify you based on the urgency using its machine learning algorithm. The feature will be available for free.

Canary is an indoor security camera that supports Amazon Alexa for smart assistant features. The connected-camera starts at $99 and can range up to $199 on its own. Canary also offers “packs” which allow you to buy the system in bulk.
