New iOS 18.2 RC and more now available, with major updates imminent

Apple has released updated RC (release candidate) builds for iOS 18.2, macOS 15.2 RC, and more software betas. These follow the first RC versions that arrived last week, and come ahead of the expected public launches some time this week.

What to expect from the RC re-release

Last week Apple released RC versions of its forthcoming iOS 18.2, macOS 15.2, and more. As happens sometimes though, the company has decided not to ship those RC builds to all users.

Now it’s today’s RC betas that are expected to represent the final versions of iOS 18.2 and more, with no more changes coming. Here are the new RC build numbers:

  • iOS and iPadOS 18.2 is build 22C151
  • macOS 15.2 is build 24C100
  • tvOS 18.2 is build 22K155
  • visionOS 2.2 is build 22N841

If you’re new to RC betas, you should know that they are not meant to bring new features. Instead, the RC is focused on eliminating as many bugs as possible before a software update’s wide launch.

Apple hopes and expects today’s RC to be the exact software shipped publicly. It’s very rare to see more than two RC builds ship. However, if a critical bug is discovered, a new RC could always debut later on before the big release.

New features coming in iOS 18.2

If you’re new to iOS 18.2, or even if you’re not, here’s an overview of everything new to expect in today’s beta.

The biggest highlight will be the second wave of Apple Intelligence features. These include:

The features above are exclusive to Apple Intelligence-compatible devices, which includes all iPhone 16 models, plus the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

But there’s also a ton more coming in iOS 18.2 outside of AI, which will come to all iPhones. Highlights include the Mail app getting a big redesign, new Camera Control changes, Find My letting you share an item’s location with others, and a lot more.

Downloading the RC update

Users already running the beta should find the new RC build available inside Settings.

  1. Open the Settings app on your device
  2. Go to General
  3. Tap Software Update
  4. Download and install from there

If you haven’t previously joined the beta, you can sign up here for the public beta program to enroll your devices for beta updates ahead of the public launch.
