Apple targeting March release for new wall-mounted smart display product: report

Apple is aiming to release its first Apple Intelligence-powered smart home device as early as March, according to a new report from Bloomberg. The product will take the form of “a wall-mounted display” that resembles a traditional home security panel.

Apple’s hope is that it will serve as a “command center for the home” with a combination of Apple apps, Apple Intelligence, and integration with HomeKit.

iOS 18.1 added a new ‘Inactivity Reboot’ security feature for iPhone

Last week, a report from 404 Media highlighted concerns from law enforcement officials about iPhones automatically rebooting themselves.

While law enforcement officials had erroneously speculated that iPhones were secretly communicating with each other to reboot, thatโ€™s not actually the case. Instead, Apple added a new security feature in iOS 18.1 that forces iPhones to reboot after a period of inactivity.

Apple teams up with airlines for new โ€˜Share Item Locationโ€™ AirTags feature in iOS 18.2

In the latest beta of iOS 18.2, Apple upgraded the Find My app with support for sharing a link to the location of a lost AirTag or Find My network accessory.

Now, Apple has published a press release detailing the new feature โ€“ including partnerships that will see more than 15 airlines begin accepting Find My item location links.

New Apple Vision Pro study reveals promising performance in radiology

A new study published this week by researchers at the University of California, San Diego highlights how Apple Vision Pro can be used in healthcare settings. In particular, this study sought to compare diagnostic performance when using Apple Vision Pro versus using a desktop.

Update: A security researcher on Mastodon has cracked the case on this, proving that it has nothing to do with iPhones secretly communicating with each other.


A new report from 404 Media says that law enforcement officials in Detroit, Michigan believe that iOS 18 includes a “new security feature that tells nearby iPhones to reboot if they have been disconnected from a cellular network for some time.”
