More iPhone 6 component photos ‘confirm’ silver, gray and gold colors, depict larger internal speaker and new vibrator design

In the latest round of iPhone 6 images, NowhereElse.fr has a new set of photos showing a selection of SIM trays, home buttons, speakers and vibrator motors. The SIM trays are once again show in the same three colors as the iPhone 5s, silver, gray and gold. It seems like the gray is of a slightly lighter shade than the Space Gray of the iPhone 5s, but the quality of the pictures makes it difficult to tell for sure. What is very noticeable is the curved edge to the SIM tray, which will make a seamless line with the iPhone 6’s curved edges, seen countless times before. The images also depict some changes to the speaker and vibrator motor of the device …

For the internal components, the site indicates that the internal speaker is larger in physical size than in previous iPhones. Although size is not the only factor in determining the sound of speakers, it is possible that this indicates the iPhone 6 will offer sound quality (or simply louder volume). As shown by the last photo, the design of the vibrator motor has changed significantly. However, it is very likely that the effect on the end-user is unchanged and the change in parts is simply necessary to accommodate the new internal layout of the phone.

Apple is expected to announce the new 4.7 inch iPhone at a press event on September 9th, which will go on sale a couple of week later. Rumors indicate that a 5.5 inch variant of the iPhone 6 will also be released, but the timeline for that product is unclear with many supply sources quoting delays.

      what is that?

      • mahmudf2014 - 10 years ago

It’s a technique that is determines how the vibrating system works. That technique was used only on iPhone 4S and phone was more quiet when it was vibrating. Also the vibrations of the phone wasn’t disturbing because of using that technique. They changed the technique on iPhone 5/5S with the old one. So he wants to have the technique on the new phone.

The 4S had a different motor to all the rest. It was quieter and felt better.

        I said the same thing, aren’t i?

I agree. It sounds silly but the current design drives me mad. It’s an incredibly irritating noise.

Is it known if the 4 inch and 6.5 inch models share the same internal parts?

I was hoping they’d be able to remove the sim card entirely – why do we still need a tiny piece of plastic? Surely this can be done digitally?

    • I can’t remember the legal side of this but Steve jobs and Apple tried to get this through the courts. I’m sure of it. It failed. Apple also agree with you and in fact all of us. None of us want a sim tray,

    • standardpull - 10 years ago

It is all digital. The advantage of a SIM card is that you can move it between devices without permission from your carrier AND have a reasonable expectation of security as it is extremely difficult to copy or clone it. Try that with a code or pin.

I’d never want this to be done digitally. It’d be a nightmare for travel, especially short term trips. Right now, with an unlocked iPhone, you can go to any country and buy a prepaid card for $10 or less and have access almost immediately. Imagine trying to call/visit a carrier and set it all up in a language you’re not familiar with.

And, really, does the SIM card bother you that much? The tray is barely noticeable.

You make good points about the usefulness of SIM cards, but they do take up quite a bit of internal space.

    • george264 - 10 years ago

This has been done with CDMA where there were no SIM cards. I had that on Verizon before they launched LTE and it was horrible with switching between devices. I had a Droid X and an Incredible and having to call in every time I wanted to switch eventually made just give up all together. SIM cards are great. Until they can replicate that with possibly an app across every platform where you can activate a phone with one click and then re-activate the same number on another phone with one-click, I’m sticking with SIMs
