Screen Shot 2015-07-14 at 1.05.36 PM

Apple has just published two new software betas for developers on its Developer Center. The new betas cover both OS X Yosemite and iOS 8, with what appear to be bug fix releases on each platform. You can find the change logs below. We’ll also include a running list of changes.

Apple recently distributed iOS 9 beta 3 to developers and beta testers, and OS X 10.10.4 to the general public. iOS 8.4 was released around the same time to introduce Apple Music support on mobile devices.

OS X 10.10.5 (build 14F6a)

OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 build 14F6a Seed Notes

The OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 update improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac.

Installation Instructions
Please be aware that you will not be able to revert back to your previous system after updating. Please install this update on a system you are prepared to erase if necessary.

You can install this update using the OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility:

– If you have already installed the new “OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility”, choose “Software Update” from the Apple menu. Otherwise, proceed with the following steps.
– Log into your Apple Developer account and download the “OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility”.
– After running the installer, the Mac App Store will open automatically. Click on the Updates panel and the latest version of OS X Yosemite seed will now be available for download.
– When a newer seed build is available, you will receive a notification to update from the Mac App Store. Click the notification to begin the installation. New seed notes will be posted in the Mac Dev Center.
– To stop receiving new seed builds, go to the App Store in System Preferences and where it says “Your computer is set to receive pre-release Software Update seeds”, click on the “Change…” button.

Note: If you are using a computer which gets its updates from a local Software Update server, the OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility will reconfigure your machine to use Apple’s Software Update servers. Your computer must be able to connect to Apple’s Software Update servers to install the seed. We recommend that you remove any Configuration Profile that specifies a local Software Update server before installing the OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility.

Okay. I’m very confused. Apple released iOS 9.3 beta (as pictured above) AND iOS 8.4.1?

        FOR-EVER, FOR-EVER, FOR-EVER

      • Nandan Desai (@nnddesai) - 9 years ago

        1) i couldn’t even ‘reply’ to your comment because of the way wordpress scales the page. Also, i don’t see an option to edit or delete (like i said before). FYI, I’m logging in using twitter.

Some idiot (me) took a screenshot of the wrong beta before posting and then immediately fixed it. You might have been one of the very few to see it haha

      • Nandan Desai (@nnddesai) - 9 years ago

Hah! that’s a relief. i felt the same after commenting. :-)

      • Nandan Desai (@nnddesai) - 9 years ago

Hey mike, i was wondering if it’d make sense to incorp. as blog commenting service in wordpress or is it too much trouble/incompatible?

      • Nandan Desai (@nnddesai) - 9 years ago

urgh! freaking autocorrect! i meant ‘disqus’ as blog commentating service.

Wonder how much attention these betas will get when every developer is already busy running 10.11 and iOS 9 and writing apps for them.

    • crichton007 - 9 years ago

I hope they get enough attention to fix the broken “Album” view in the music app. It only shows the same view as “Artists”.

      • checker92 - 9 years ago

At least it is fixed in the iOS 9 PB

      • argyleo - 9 years ago

Go to Settings and select Music. Change “Sort Albums” to “By Title”. That helped me. I agree this is bad design.

      • crichton007 - 9 years ago

Holy cow! That’s what the deal was? I can’t ell you how long I puzzled over an album I figured was missing because the album wasn’t showing up in the W’s.

  3. Edison Wrzosek - 9 years ago

Anyone have the changelog for these two releases? Am curious to find out what they’re supposed to fix…

    • Mike Beasley - 9 years ago

OS X log is in the post. Apple hasn’t published the iOS one yet.

      • Ian Eiloart - 9 years ago

That’s not a change log. A change log would tell you what had changed. Apple never publishes change logs.

  4. Vinnie - 9 years ago

Bug fix meaning probably patched the jailbreak exploit

  5. lmpacts - 9 years ago

I hope the final version includes wifi calling for AT&T and Verizon! :o

    • mtitech94 - 9 years ago

That’s not going to Happen any time soon I can guarantee it. They have good enough networks so theirs no need for them to.

      • cma92 - 9 years ago

Maybe for you but where I am their service is as bad as Sprint and Tmobile! I’m on tmo with an iPhone 6+ and my sisters are on att with iPhone 5s’s and I have better, more reliable service than they do with the added bonus of wifi calling.

      • mtitech94 - 9 years ago

intersting Tmobile is great were I’m at on my 6 Plus and your right wifi calling is a plus. But maybe if users complain enough they will work with apple to put wifi calling for AT&T and Verizon.
