We told you previously that discoloration and deformation is expected behavior for many Apple Watch straps. Apple warned its retail staff of the expected wear and tear that won’t be covered under warranty. Let’s face it, this is a fact of life for all watch straps made of rubber or leather-like materials, but the video below from YouTuber SmpTecHD shows exactly what to expect with the Apple Watch Sport band (I’ve experienced similar wear and tear with my own Sport band after a few weeks).

Oh lord….. this IS NOT discoloration. It’s a smoothing of the surface texture which takes those spots from a matte surface look to smooth from where the bands are meshing. This is unavoidable wear-and-tear and has nothing to do with color. The band is black through and through. It’s simply getting “polished” in a few spots.
That video is so stupid. It’s not discolouration. It still has the colour black but polished. Discolouration is when your black band becomes gray. It’s normal for polycarbonate silicones. 😑
I bought an additional black band 10 days ago that has done the same thing. Maybe it’s expected, but it looks ugly and I’m returning it. I’m curious if the white will have the same problem as visibly.

Nope! I switched with my boyfriend who has the White Band and I like it!
But these polished spots only appear where you don’t see the band while it’s being worn. Why bother?
