Apple media boss Eddy Cue also attending Sun Valley conference amidst content push

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue was spotted alongside Tim Cook at the annual Sun Valley conference for technology and media executives. According to a tweet from Bloomberg‘s Jon Erlichman, Cue and Cook arrived today at the conference, as pictured above.

In response to a question about the event being a “big week,” Cook reportedly said, “we’ll see.”

The week long conference held in Idaho, which Tim Cook attended last year, is a media-and-content-heavy conference focused on making deals, partnerships, and acquisitions. While an earlier report confirmed  Cook’s attendance at the conference earlier, Eddy Cue’s appearance is unexpected…

Notable conference attendees in the past include the likes of Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerburg of Facebook, Bob Iger of Disney, Sergey Brin of Google, Less Moonves of CBS and more. Apple has been making a strong push for content deals recently with Apple TV additions such as HBOGo, WatchESPN, Sky News, and others. Many of the new Apple TV content providers were added just last month  via a software update.

Additionally, Apple has reportedly recently hired Hulu executive Pete Distad to negotiate content deals with Time Warner, in an effort to bring more TV shows to the Apple TV. Of course, Apple has been rumored to be working on a larger TV project for several years now. Most recently, Tim Cook stated that Apple has a “grand vision” for television at the annual AllThingsD conference this year. Cook declined to specify on whether or not that grand vision is yet to arrive due to technical or content issues. Perhaps Eddy Cue’s involvement this week could solve any content-related issues for near-future Apple media plans.

Aside from television, both Cook and Cue met earlier this year with Beats CEO Jimmy Iovine to discuss streaming music services, which may have played a role in the introduction of iTunes Radio at WWDC 2013. Eddy Cue has long been know at Apple for his dealmaking skills, leading initial iPhone discussions with AT&T (then Cingular Wireless) prior to 2007.
