Only a few weeks after comparing iPhone 5s components to the iPhone 5, TLDToday is back at it again, tearing down an iPad 4 to compare its components to that of the upcoming iPad 5. The results are rather interesting, and show just how dramatic of a redesign the iPad 5 will be.
Comparing the chassis of the iPad 5 to the current iPad 4 reveal great differences in both thickness and width of the devices, with the iPad 5 shedding the thick side bezel in favor of a iPad mini style edge. Of course, as we’ve seen before, much of the iPad 5’s design is directly inspired by the iPad mini.
As shown in the video, just the battery alone from the iPad 4 is almost enough the fill up the contents of the iPad 5 shell, which means that Apple will likely need to either increase the power efficiency of the next iPad or improve the battery technology in order to get the same or better battery capacity out of what could like be a lower capacity battery.
Going a step further, we see the iPad 4’s LCD panel fit into the front frame of the iPad 5, demonstrating just how much thinner the bezel will be, and giving a good look at how iOS 7 will look running on the new iPads.
Below is a gallery of the process, provided by TLDToday, with the parts coming from Sonny Dickson. Apple is expected to announce new iPads this October.
