Tim Cook talks Apple Pay, Apple Watch and security on final day in China

On the final day of Tim Cook’s four-day visit to China, he told state news agency Xinhuanet that Apple Pay was top of the list of things the company wanted to take to China.

“China is a really key market for us,” said the CEO. “Everything we do, we are going to work it here. Apple Pay is on the top of the list.”

Cook said that Apple would be working to understand the steps needed to bring the new service to China before meeting with local carriers, banks and merchants …

Cook also said that people would find the Apple Watch to be a must-have product.

“We are going to wonder how we ever lived without it,” said Cook, “That’s the real test of a great product: you wonder how you live without it. And I think that’s going to happen to the Apple Watch.”

Asked about Wednesday’s meeting with Chinese premier Ma Kai, in which Cook is believed to have delicately raised the issue of an iCloud phishing attack alleged to have involved the Chinese government firewall, the Apple CEO said only that the discussion had been “very open,” “fascinating” and “impressive.”

It was also revealed that the iPhone worker he spoke with at the Foxconn factory had been taking part in Apple’s Supplier Employee Education and Development (SEED) program, in which employees are offered free courses in English, computing and other topics.

Fixing iOS 8.1 bugs should be at the top buddy. My Wifi has been screwed since iOs 8 came out !

  2. What kind/brand sunglasses is Tim Cook wearing in this photo?

Those are Gold + Wood brand glasses with what appears to be transition lenses.

Like a oval-ish version of Steve Jobs eyeglasses – perhaps they will morph into his in time.
