Apple today has listed Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming film ‘Serena’ on the iTunes Store. The film is not slated to hit theaters in the United States until March 27th, but eager Lawrence fans can rent it on iTunes now for $9.99 in HD. The film also went up on Google Play this morning.
‘Serena’ stars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper as the lead couple. The film is set in North Carolina during the Great Depression and focuses on making it through the time period while fighting “blackmail, jealousy, and murder.”
$9.99 is certainly steep for a digital movie rental, but keep in mind you’re also paying for the three weeks early access to the film and not having to go see it in a theater. You can rent ‘Serena’ on iTunes now.
Watch Now Before It’s In Theaters. George and Serena Pemberton (Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper and Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence) are love-struck newlyweds building a business empire. Serena proves herself to be equal to any man: overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. With power and influence now in their hands, the Pembertons refuse to let anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions. But their passionate whirlwind romance is threatened by demons from their pasts, forcing the couple to reckon with blackmail, jealousy and murder in this ravishing period film directed by Oscar winner Susanne Bier.
Typically major films tend to hit iTunes several weeks or months after their theatrical release, of course, with the last big exception being The Interview under admittedly different circumstances.

dud released all over the world last october
This is probably because this movie received terrible reviews. Last I checked Rotten Tomatoes had it at under 20%, with critics in disbelief of such a premium cast ending up in a mess of a film.
I wonder if this pays off for the studio better than having it only in theaters..
My wife and I watched this a week ago.
It was awful. We love all the movies that Jennifer and Bradley Cooper are in. But this was awful.
I like this, but I also see this closing many movie theaters in the future.
This was out in Canada at the end of October. The movie was a flop and made no money. The Studio’s hoping they can inject a little “Interview” magic by releasing it online early.
