Ahead of the expected first Apple Watch arrivals on April 24th, Apple has began charging customer credit and debit cards. Various users on social media that pre-ordered the Apple Watch are reporting that they have been charged by Apple for their order. According to reader reports, both Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport customers have been charged.
While some users report that their shipment status has yet to change, our own Dom Esposito’s order status for his 38mm Apple Watch Sport has changed from from “processing” to “preparing for shipment.” His stainless steel model, however, remains as processing as of right now.
The first batch of Apple Watch pre-orders are expected to arrive on April 24th, although as we’ve noted before, supply of the device has been limited and therefore launch day arrivals could also be sparse. It appears that, today, customers in the United States and Canada have been charged for their orders, while international users have not.
Hearing from multiple places that UK orders (for Friday) will be charged and start preparing for shipment tomorrow.

GO to the confirmation email and click on the order number in the top right corner. It’ll show you order status in bold and as well as your delivery timeframe.
The pending charge showed up on my bank account for my Watch (non-sport). Apple order status still says processing.
I ordered the Apple Watch 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Milanese Loop and my AMEX was charged at 4:17 PM CST. It does still list it as “Processing Item”. The extra charging cable I got did change to “Preparing for shipment”.

What time did you complete your preorder. I completed mine at 2:06 am on April 10th and still don’t have a preparing for shipment. Still processing and it is so frustrating.
I ordered the 38mm Stainless with the classic black and got charged less than an hour ago and my status has already changed to preparing for shipment, so not just Apple Sport unless I’m extremely lucky. Either way I won’t complain!

The stainless I received an email confirmation of order at 3:05a ET, and the sport at 3:03a ET. Both are set to Preparing to Ship now.

I know I shouldn’t be so concerned about it, but I had some issues when placing the initial order that required I re-enter address and card info multiple times (just moved, forgot to update payment info before ordering – DOH!) and my order wasn’t placed until 12:05 or so – but my e-mail confirmation DOES say 4/24-5/8. Fingers crossed I see things start to move soon!

Just checked, and one of my orders was charged to my card today and is in ‘Preparing for Shipment’ status.
No sign of movement on my other order (12:03AM order with a May 13-27 delivery).
My steel Apple Watch (milanese loop) just charged to my card and shows “preparing for shipment.” But the Apple Watch Sport I ordered at the same time (12:02am PDT April 10) still shows “processing items” and has not charged to my card. So it’s not just the Sports that are changing status.

I placed a 2nd order for a 2 meter Apple Watch charging cable just after my Watch order, that’s already shipping and has a UPS tracking number. It’s coming out of Nashville, TN. Yup. Im in Toronto Canada and I bought two stainless steel classic buckle watches at 12:05 and 12:08 respectively they are both preparing for shipment. My friend from Boston however got his 38mm sports watch space black with a black sports band at 12:01 and he hasnt gotten charged yet. Im not sure why.

Mine has changed back to “Preparing for Shipment”. Someone on Twitter told me they spoke to someone at Apple, and they said it was a glitch. It better get here Friday.

Why is Apple still focusing on aesthetics instead of performance? The Apple Watch will probably just break anyway and be a fad. Take the MacBook for example… it’s not even the most desired product anymore. My Dad bought me a MacBook for college that was really expensive so I am hesitating to buy a new one because mine got pretty slow. Eventually I found a site (WWW.DETOXMACBOOK.COM) and its working perfectly again, but I’m trying to figure out if this problem is something that I caused or if Apple computers are just really expensive pieces of technology that will stop working well… Apple watch included.

Has anyone who ordered a SS with a delivery date of mid to late May, had their order changed to preparing or shipment? Ordered my SS with modern buckle within two minutes (Australia) but the expected delivery was still mid to late May, so not expecting it to ship this week.

I’m guessing the first batch black sport bands are being shipped out with all the early aluminum orders first.

It doesn’t mean anything is wrong. I had an apple gift card that I used for the purchase and it hasn’t been charged yet. I spoke with an apple rep this morning and she told me everything was fine and that I would be charged right before it prepares to ship, so you should be ok as of now.

I ordered at 12:03 PT, my 42mm stainless with a black sports band has yet to charge or change from processing items. Two friends who ordered sport watches slightly after me have been charged…just have to remember that having your shiny new toy delayed a little is not the end of the world, though it’s hard for me :)
On another forum, someone said that an apple rep told them that they are processing payments and changing status by location and by models. This seems to be true as I have seen a ton of sport models posted as prep for ship, but have seen no stainless steel models with black sports band posted so far, only as with white sports band. An apple rep told me this morning that just because the charge wasn’t sent through and status hasn’t changed yet, doesn’t mean anything in terms of not getting a Fri delivery date.

In a separate order right after the watch I ordered a 2m Watch charging cable that I’ve received shipping confirmation this morning around 11:30am EST with tracking number (coming from Nashville, TN). Might have to wrap that around my wrist this Friday if the Watch doesn’t come :-/
I’m right next door in Port Charlotte. I haven’t heard of anyone having any luck with the black 42mm sport in Florida yet. Maybe we will get lucky and get some sort of notification tonight or tomorrow. Fingers crossed :)

My order also changed to preparing to ship. I also received an email from FedEx last night. Something is coming from the FedEx facility next to Dallas Ft. Worth airport. Two things I’m curious about.
1) Those who have been charged and their status changed, where do you live? Are you near a major city where these distribution hubs may be located? Or are you further away, thus requiring extra shipping time?
2) Has anyone had their status change today (Tuesday) but you checked yesterday and it still said processing? Is it a thing they’re rolling out all week or did they do it all yesterday?

I didn’t expect a shipping date from online support, but the bit on the authorization has me wondering. I know I purchased the most requested watch, but i confirmed at 3:02 AM ET…surely 1 minute didn’t put me into the later part of the 4/24-5/8 window!

My 42mm space gray has been charged to my Visa and the status has changes to “preparing for shipment”! Good news! I got my confirmation email at 00:03 April 10. It made a huge difference having my configuration stored in the Apple Store!

Ordered a 38mm silver Sport white band and 42mm grey Sport as quickly as possible and received the confirmation email from Apple at 2:04am CST. I kept refreshing the Apple Store app on my iPad every few seconds since 2am and it didn’t open up until about 2:02am. So far, the 38mm silver has been charged to CC and is “preparing for shipment” while the 42mm grey is still “Processing”. :(
