Apple cancelled a talk scheduled to be held yesterday at its Tokyo Ginza retail store after a handwritten bomb threat was received, reports Public Slate. The store was closed for an hour while police searched for explosives, but nothing was found.
The event was to feature guest, Isao Yukisada, a Japanese film director. The director was scheduled to speak at 2 p.m.
It’s not known why the event was targeted.
The store previously made the news when it opened its doors early to allow queuing iPhone customers in before an approaching typhoon hit.

Sad times we live in.
I agree *sigh*
Anyone have a clue WHY someone would object to Yukisada speaking? I checked IMDB and Wikipedia and there was nothing about his films being controversial or him doing anything people might object to.
I did the same and couldn’t see any obvious reason.
There has been a trend in Japan over the last couple of years of threatening to commit crimes for the fun of it. Japan famously has such low crime that every little thing seems to make the news (such as vending machine vandalism, and unclaimed RC drones) so kids and adults alike have taken to making threats of violence to get attention.
