Griffin’s BreakSafe is the MagSafe USB-C adapter that Apple’s MacBook needs

One of the biggest complaints regarding the 12-inch MacBook has been the ports, or lack thereof, that the device offers. The MacBook features just as single USB-C port that you use for everything, including charging. This means that the MagSafe technology that Apple introduced 10 years ago and that we’ve all come to love is nowhere to be found. A new accessory introduced by Griffin today, however, aims to fix that problem.

The company has unveiled a new six-foot BreakSafe Magnetic USB-C Power Cable that brings the laptop-saving magnetic technology to the 12-inch MacBook. The BreakSafe cable comes in two parts. The first part is a 12.8mm small plug that you insert into the USB-C port on the MacBook. The second part is the 6-foot cable that connects magnetically to the 12.8mm dongle and features a USB-C connection on the other side.

Obviously Griffin’s hope here is that you’ll leave the small dongle in your MacBook’s USB-C port at all times, but of course that means you’re limited to only using Griffin’s USB-C cable, but the added protection of the magnetic technology may be worth it. The MagSafe tech, of course, would mean that should you ever trip over your USB-C charging cable, the cable would safely disconnect and not send the laptop itself flying across the room.

Griffin’s BreakSafe USB-C adapter will be available in April for $39.99.

Does anyone know if I can upgrade a late 2014 Macbook Air’s flash storage? I have 128GB and would like to put 512GB inside my Air.
