Chrome 49 comes to iOS as Google Drive updated w/ folder color support, more

In addition to releasing the first developer preview of Android N earlier today, Google this evening has rolled out updates to a pair of its iOS apps. Both Google Drive and Chrome for iOS have been updated with a few new features.

First, Google Drive has been updated with improved support for ‘trashing’ documents, as well as support for folder colors. With today’s update, users can now view, restore, and delete items in their trash from the iOS app. Furthermore, the iOS app now offers the ability to view and modify the folder color of contents in Drive.

An update to the Google Drive for iOS app is coming to the App Store. New features will include:

  • Trash View: You’ll now have the ability to view, restore and delete items in your trash from within the iOS app
  • Folder Colors: You can now view and modify your Google Drive folder colors on the fly.

Next, Chrome 49 is now available to iOS users. While it’s a small update compared to the changes Chrome 49 for Android brought, it offers one small tweak. Google says that the bookmarks interface has been redesigned to allow you to more easily find your favorites. There are also bug fixes and stability improvements.

What’s New in Version 4.7

  • View and restore files in your Trash
  • Add colors to your folders
  • Links to Drive from Messages, Safari, and Mail open in the Drive app

The updated Google Drive and Chrome apps are available on the App Store now.

Google Drive does not have the new features listed in the update.

Yep, I don’t see them either. Very strange.

  2. Not a fan of the new bookmarks view and there is no option to return it to how it used to be.

It’s… different. I like it, but it has its quirks. It looks a bit better. But the biggest issue is that I don’t think there’s a way to reorganize the order of the bookmarks within a folder. The old select and drag was better that way.

The Issue that I am having is that I use bookmarks more like a quick access menu with no text next to them, only their image. Now that the images are gone, I have lost most of my productivity on mobile chrome. Thinking of switching to something else.
