Pokémon GO update to energize game with new player versus mode this year

While titles like Fortnite have taken the spotlight from Pokémon GO over the last year, Niantic’s head of marketing has shared some news on an upcoming update to the AR hit. Arriving by the end of the year, Pokémon GO will be adding a PvP mode.

As reported by Variety, Niantic’s Anne Beuttenmüller, the company’s head of marketing for the EMEA region announced the news for the new player versus player mode:

“We are constantly improving the elements that we have available in the game and the next thing that we want to add at the end of this year is the PvP mode,” Beuttenmüller said via a Google translation.

Last month Pokémon GO celebrated its two-year anniversary with some special limited-time content. Even though the game’s initial hype has died down, the latest data from Sensor Tower estimates that players worldwide are still spending $2 million a day on Pokémon GO.

How about you, are you still playing Pokémon GO? Does the arrival of a PvP mode sound enticing?
