Pre-ordering iPhone XR? Upgrade Program pre-approval for fast checkout starts today

Pre-ordering iPhone XR starts Friday ahead of the launch a week later, and iPhone Upgrade Program members can start the process as soon as today with pre-approval. Apple introduced the pre-approval step with the iPhone X last year to remove an extra step that could slow down upgraders at checkout.

Pre-approval for pre-ordering iPhone XR with Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program starts today at 12 pm PT/3 pm ET:

Get ready for iPhone XR pre-order starting at 12.00 p.m. PDT on 10.15.

Use the Apple Store app on your iPhone to get preapproved for the iPhone Upgrade Program, so you can speed through checkout on 10.19.

Apple recommends using the Apple Store app for going through the pre-approval process.

If you really want to live on the cutting edge of technology, iPhone Upgrade Program members can even use the Apple Store app and Siri Shortcuts on iOS 12 to create a voice phrase with Siri that pre-orders the iPhone XR on Friday if you’re pre-approved:

Look for the ‘Add to Siri’ button while getting pre-approved, and record your own voice command, like “pre-order my iPhone.” Say your phrase when pre-order begins, and let Siri pull up your pre-approval in the Apple Store app so you can quickly complete your order.

This could either save you time on pre-order night or be a major frustration if something goes wrong and you miss launch day inventory — let us know how it goes!

iPhone XR includes many of the same features and benefits as iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Apple’s new full-screen 6.1-inch LCD flagship comes in black, white, red, blue, yellow, and coral finishes with an aluminum frame and a glass back.

iPhone XR starts at $749, or from $37.41/month with the iPhone Upgrade Program, with pre-orders officially kicking off on October 19 and the release scheduled for October 26.
