In addition to releasing iOS 8.1.1 for iPhone and iPad users, Apple has released OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 with bug fixes and performance improvements for Macs running the latest version of the desktop operating system. Mac users that have experienced WiFi performance issues running Yosemite should expect improvements with this bug fix release. The update is available for Macs running OS X Yosemite through the Updates tab of the Mac App Store.
In addition to addressing WiFi performance, Apple says OS X 10.10.1 also includes improvements for Microsoft Exchange users and fixes for Mail. You can read the full list of changes below.
The OS X Yosemite v10.10.1 Update improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac. This update:
- Improves Wi-Fi reliability
- Improves reliability when connecting to a Microsoft Exchange server
- Resolves an issue that may prevent Mail from sending messages through certain email service providers
- Addresses an issue prevents connecting to remote computers using Back to My Mac
- Resolves an issue where sharing services, Notification Center widgets and Actions may not be available
- Addresses an issue that could cause Notiication Center settings to not be retained after a restart
- Addresses an issue that might prevent the Mac App Store from displaying certain updates
- Addresses an issue that could prevent some Mac mini computers from waking from sleep
- Resolves an issue that might prevent Time Machine from displaying older backups
- Addresses an issue that might prevent entering text in Japanese
Apple also notes that the maintenance update to OS X Yosemite includes improvements for enterprise users:
- Allows you to append search domains for partially qualified domain names when performing DNS lookups (consult the discoveryd man page for more information)
- Addresses an issue where the Mac App Store might offer an update to Apple Remote Desktop when the latest version is already installed

Yikes. I don’t know what is going on lately, but they really should fix this stuff ASAP. I wouldnt mind a few bugs here and there, but having so many broken features constabtly becoming an issue is ridiculous.
Interesting, do you have the new MacBook Pro ‘Retina’ with 802.11ac? I’m wondering whether it is specific to that model because I’ve got a 2012 iMac (pre-802.11ac) and everything seems to be going well.

It is NOT for early 2011 Macbook Pro; I cannot even check my Hotmail in less than 3 minutes; when I click on the Wifi icon on the task bar, I get “Wifi looking for networks. All the Windows devices and iPads we have at home don’t have any Wifi issues. My experience with Yosemite so far is worse than Windows ME. I wouldn’t think twice about using Windows 8.1 as the sole OS on my MBPro if I can get a standalone driver for the network adaptor.
Number on AppleTVs Names are still very annoying. After Updating and re-starting all my devices, this issue is still present. I get a “(2)” in my AirPlay names for my Apple TVs

How do you see it in the macbook pro? Maybe i have the same issue and i can’t see it. So far, its only in my Apple TVs, not in the Airport express or the computers.

I can understand updates as other software evolves but compete OS updates to fix things that weren’t caught pre-release?

The only pass that Apple receives are in the minds of those who are high on Apple-hate because these are reported issues but most of the time rather than inconveniences rather than chronically problematic flaws when compared to Windows and 20+ years of the registry, win32, dll hell etc. which, in each release, has a band aid solution applied that works around the problem (and creating new ones at the same time) rather than fixing the source. I’d say that Apple does a pretty damn good job. If you want to see bad – check out Oracle some time and their ‘enterprise quality’ software.
No real problems with wifi since Yosemite here, nor any issues with Bluetooth. As for the multiple device issue, I do have 9 iMacs on my sidebar when opening my finder… the funny thing is, some are showing different users connected, be it they are all mine or my family’s. my side bar also shows my back up drive, my music and video drive (another i use for storing my libraries of music and videos to keep my iMac hard drive running faster) My only issue has been with my iPhone 6 where sometimes i lose Wifi, but on my wife’s 64 gig iPhone, it still connects. same with the iPads, AppleTV’s, mini’s, iPhone 4s, and macbook pro. all have no issues, except my iPhone 6. it is so sporadic that it doesn’t really bother me, plus i have applecare plus on it as well if anything serious does happen. I found that many issues were operator error on input for the most part earlier when running the OS beta for me. once i learned correct settings, or why the issues occurred, i was able to remedy them. the nice thing is that Apple gives 90 days tech support on Yosemite once it is installed to help iron out any bugs, even on my old iMac.
A funny story from yesterday… I was watching the games when my iPad mini rang. it was a call from my son’s iPone. the monitor on my iMac showed it as well, but i answered on my iPad. worked like a charm! had my iPhone in the bedroom, so not having to get up to answer was great. Such is the way it should be with Apple products.
I’ve has zero issues with Yosemite (and had none with Mavericks either). Lion and Mountain Lion gave me issues with wifi but was eventually taken care of.
If your having any issues sack-up and google it. Yiu’ll find a fix – I always do. It’s much more productive than crying on the comment section to anmac site.

Can confirm on my rMBP 15inch Late 2013 that the Wi-Fi bug has not been fixed after upgrading to OS X 10.10.1 and everything else basically performs exactly the same!
Wi-Fi on my original iPad Air may have slightly been improved but by no means brilliant! I just don’t understand how they are still having all of these issues with Wi-Fi on all of there devices!
I swear everything takes me twice as long because of this issue on my rMBP!
Is the 10.10.2 beta out yet for developers?
What kind of router do you have? from what I heard there are issues with routers that broadcast both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz with the same SSID where OS X should switch based on which has the best reception but what is happening if disconnections. Have you tried separating the two so each frequency has its own unique SSID and then connecting to one specific one?
The only problems I have is Safari going spastic and flashing and glutting about sometimes and Finder blanks out on me sometimes and the top row of icons in column view a slightly pushed up behind the main menu bar… It’s frustrating.

Yosemite seems to have fixed the problem of getting “ghost systems” i.e.: MacBookPro (2) (3) etc. I have an odd one that is: my MacBook Pro share name is Chucks MacBook Pro, but on the system where I reference it, it says MacBook Pro-cee8. Anyone have any ideas why? It is accessible but why the name is different is a mystery. The Mac Mini that is shared as Chucks Mac Mini appears normal in the Mac Book Pro.
This does not respond at all to the problems with connecting to Apple TV. Should I get an XBox?
Should never have released it as it was… Mail has problems (confirmed by Apple Support), so does Safari. One issue is Yosemite doesn’t show List of Users as before, ugh. Too many bugs. I feel like I’m starting to use a combination of iOS (for tweens) and Windows (crudeness).
Where the hell did the Task Manager go? I have all kinds of things running in the background and need to need close them but can’t as the Task Manager is hidden or gone. Can anyone help? I lost it when I upgraded to Yosemite.
