As part of iOS 9, Apple today has announced a new app called Move to iOS that makes the transition from Android to iPhone more seamless for the user. While the app went unannounced during the WWDC keynote, it is listed on the iOS 9 feature page on Apple’s website.
Move to iOS allows users to wirelessly switch from Android to iOS. The app, according to Apple, allows Android users to wirelessly transfer their contacts, message history, camera photos, videos, web bookmarks, mail accounts, calendars, wallpapers, and DRM-free media to their new iOS device. It will also automatically suggest that users download the iOS versions of any free Android apps from the App Store. Users’ paid apps are added to your iTunes Wish List automatically.
The app presumably will launch alongside iOS 9 later this year in both the Play Store and App Store. A launch alongside iOS 9 would line up perfectly with the congruent launch of the next-generation iPhone, as well.
A report from comScore earlier this month showed that Apple strengthened its lead as the top smartphone manufacturer, while also gaining on Android to become the top smartphone platform. Tim Cook stated earlier this year that Apple saw the highest rate of switchers to iOS during Q2.

I love how the only purpose Apple sees in an Android phone after data transfer is recycling it xD
Hahaa I was thinking the same thing!
They seem to like the Android OS though because many of their new features today are features Android users have been used to for a while. From their battery saver to Proactive Assistant (aka Google Now) to transit on Maps and so much more
Yeah, dude, shame on apple for copying android pay, google photos, fingerprint scanner, app permission pop ups, and so on, from Android M ;)
You are wrong @giromij
Photos, Fingerprints and “Apple Pay” were here first!
Maybe try oiling the ol’ SARCASM DETECTOR there, Joshua, no??
*facepalm*
Is this Apple’s first app in the Android Marketplace?
No. Their first should be Beats Music.
This is just hilarious!
Apple knows that their competitor is HTC and not Samsung anymore. They should place HTC One M9 or M9+ with the iphone so that user can decide the beauty themselves despite they put a mid range HTC phone with their flagship phone and about the message of recycling….. Apple just showed how much they scared of Androids :-)
