Apple expands 2015 Back to School deal of free Beats Solo2 headphones to online purchases, additional countries

Apple last month kicked off its annual Back to School promotion, announcing that it is giving away a free pair of Beats Solo 2 headphones with the purchase of any eligible Mac. At the time, however, the promo was limited to Apple retail stores, with the promise of the deal coming later on to Apple’s online store. Starting today, however, Apple’s Back to School promotion is now available via Apple’s online store.

Apple is now advertising its Back to School offering on the homepage of its website, leading users to its Education Pricing microsite. On the education site, Appel reiterates that you can receive a free pair of Beats Solo 2 headphones with the purchase of any eligible Mac or that you can upgrade to a pair of wireless Beats Solo2 headphones for $100 more.

Apple also today has started emailing recent Mac buyers, informing them that they are eligible to receive a free pair of Beats Solo2 headphones in Black, Red, White, Blue, Gray, or Pink. In order to claim the deal, customers simply have to reply to the email they receive from Apple with a shipment address.

As previously rumored, Apple’s Back to School program also today launched in a handful of new European countries.

Apple’s Back to School deal this year is a big departure from its normal routine. Last year, a Mac purchase got you a $100 gift card, and an iPhone or iPad purchase got you a $50 gift card, as was the case for many previous years, as well. You can view Apple’s Back to School promo online here. The offer runs until September 18th. Eligible Macs include: iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac Pro.

How recently does the mac have to be purchased? I bought a Macbook Pro June 14th. Does that qualify?

Ah. this article isn’t 100% accurate. I bought a new Macbook Online at the beginning of July and as soon as the promotion went live I called and Apple honored my purchased and sent me a pair of Beats. They also did the same for a friend of mine who had bought an Macbook Air on the online store the week prior to the announcement of the promotion. Also when the promotion went live I don’t ever recall seeing it stated, or reported by any site, that the deal was for in store purchases only. The is the first time I have ever seen anyone say it was originally for in store purchases only.

    • It never said that is was in store only. The online promotion of the deal just started today, I went into Apple 2 weeks ago, and they had the promotion. When I checked online, they did not, the online start of this only now started today.

Works just fine at my end (latest OSX+Safari). Perhaps there’s a blocker blocking a blog(?)
