Apple debuts new iPhone 6s ads highlighting ‘Hey Siri’ and power advances

Apple today has debuted two new TV ads for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. These ads come just a week after the company unveiled its new holiday ad featuring Stevie Wonder and Andra Day. The two new iPhone ads are entitled “Hey Siri” and “Ridiculously Powerful,” and focus on exactly what you would expect them to.

“Hey Siri” centers around the iPhone’s support for always-listening support for Siri. The ad shows a variety of different use cases for the feature, including asking Siri for restaurant recommendations, trivia questions, to play a song, and much more. Apple continues to use its “The only thing that’s changed is everything” tagline with this ad.

The second ad, called “Ridiculously Powerful” is a 1-minute long spot that showcases the improved performance of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The ad showcases a variety of third-party apps, as well as Apple’s own apps like Garageband and iMovie. Apple even showcases professional gamers competing in ESport tournaments using iPhone. The ad also touts that the improved A9 chip found in the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus improves performance across the board, including every day tasks like iMessaging, Mail, and Maps.

Both of Apple’s new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus ads can be seen below. “Hey Siri” is a 30-second spot, while “Ridiculously Powerful” is a 1-minute clip.

Is apple providing a list of apps shown in the commercial? I know they have in the past.

The first ad was too long imo.

    That’s Jon Favreau!

I love how clever the second one is. Taking the time to mention in all seriousness that games are now a sport and to remind us that, oh yeah, it’s also a PHONE!

I miss the days of interesting Apple ads. Really is anyone going to be saying “Oh did you see the kickass Apple add where they show Siri doing what “OK Google” did last year!” Frankly I’d be more impressed if they could make the call quality better. Still sounds like I’m calling from a tin can.

Dude no kidding. Who freaking cares about when Apple releases a new commercial or when they open a new Apple Store.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) it is not the phone, it is your carrier that makes it sound like a can.

I think they also highlighted HomeKit with Siri in the last one right to the end where the guy says “Hey Siri, Goodnight”. That one seemed easy to miss but I loved that last ad.

  7. Will be nice to have the list of apps used in the ads.

Has any other 6s/6s+ owner noticed they use Siri a lot more now you can activate it via “Hey Siri” without being plugged into a power source? I’ve had every model since Siri was introduced with the 4s, but this is the first time I’ve actually found myself using Siri while out and about to make a text message or call a contact. The hands free activation has been a bit of a game changer in that regard for me. It probably goes hand in hand with the recognition being much better and overall I’ve started to enjoy using Siri where before it was a neat gimmick to demo to friends.

Well I do find myself using it more but I also find that it doesn’t activate properly all the time. I’ve only had the 6s for about 2 weeks now. Sometimes when I say “Hey Siri” nothing happens and I have to repeat it a few times.
