It’s no secret that the team members at Porsche are fans of Apple technology. From embracing next-gen CarPlay to including Apple CEO Tim Cook in a keynote, the German car company has a special appreciation for Apple.
Taking advantage of state-of-the-art technology from Apple has recently extended to how Porsche holds its media events for the press. Just this summer, Porsche leveraged the power of Apple Vision Pro to take members of the press under the hood and inside the new 911 Carrera GTS in ways not possible before. Porsche even envisions using spatial Persona and SharePlay on Apple Vision Pro to hold immersive and intimate presentations for remote journalists.
Porsche details how Apple Vision Pro has already changed how it approaches unveiling a new sports car:
Groups of 15 at a time were invited to take a peek under the exterior as Porsche engineers explained the details of the new T-Hybrid system at the heart of the new model. The presenters and their media guests were able to do things that have never been possible with a traditional presentation, deconstructing the car down into its individual systems and components, lifting it up to see its underside and even spinning it around to see the aerodynamics at work – all in incredible detail thanks to Apple’s spatial computing technology.
Porsche adds that Apple Vision Pro provided a new way to visual the technology behind its new hybrid powertrain inside the 911 Carrera GTS:
Using Apple Vision Pro with passthrough and a display system that has 4K resolution for each eye, the team could effectively peel back the outer layers of the sports car. This enabled media guests to explore the hybrid powertrain beneath: a powerful, motorsport-inspired system that features a newly developed electric exhaust gas turbocharger that greatly reduces the time required to reach peak boost pressure.
The automotive company shares a video here of exactly how augmented reality through Apple Vision Pro extends the amount of information they’re able to present when unveiling a new sports car.
Apple Vision Pro doesn’t just create immersive and powerful storytelling in person. For that reason, Porsche also plans to use Apple Vision Pro to enhance its press demonstrations to journalists around the world.
Porsche is set to use Apple’s spatial Persona and SharePlay to bring media guests together remotely, from wherever in the world they may be. In testing this experience, guests will be able to join technical deep dives from anywhere in the world and interact and exchange with others as if they’re together in the same room.
While nothing beats the feeling of getting behind the wheel of a brand new Porsche, it’s easy to imagine how Apple Vision Pro could enhance storytelling and presenting for a group of people scattered around the globe.
Of course, you don’t need to be a German sports car firm to benefit from Persona and SharePlay on Apple Vision Pro. The technology extends to FaceTime calls, group gameplay, and movie watching as well.
