“It’s been way too long” – since a colored Apple logo? [Video]

After a Digitimes suggestion yesterday that Apple might be planning logo changes to Apple devices which “shine at the edges,” reader Mark Thomson wondered whether the strapline for today’s Apple event – it’s been way too long – might refer to a colored Apple logo.

He’s created an interesting mockup above (leaving aside that the stock laptop image looks nothing like a MacBook).

One obvious objection would be that LED lighting would use more power, while the existing glowing white logo simply uses the existing backlight, taking advantage of light that is there anyway. But LED lighting is very power-efficient, so it’s not an impossible idea. It does look cute …

    Completely pointless and invisible to the user, it’s just paying to advertise for Apple. I don’t approve.
