Last week, Apple started beta testing the next round of Apple Intelligence capabilities with iOS 18.2. Apple has since confirmed that these Apple Intelligence features and iOS 18.2 will launch to everyone in December.

Apple beginning to let more users off of Genmoji waitlist in iOS 18.2 beta

Apple released iOS 18.2 developer beta 1 earlier this week, with ChatGPT support, Image Playground, Image Wand, and Genmoji. However, the latter image generation features required a waitlist, one that many found themselves stuck on. A small number of users gained access quickly, but the vast majority have been waiting, unable to access the new features.

However, a decent wave of users have reported gaining access today.

While the narrative around Apple Intelligence is that the company is leaning heavily on “coming later” asterisks, and we’ll have to wait a long time for any of it to actually launch, yesterday’s iOS 18.2 beta release tells a somewhat different story.

Now, sure, we have to include an asterisk of our own here – just because a feature is available in the current beta doesn’t mean it’ll make it into the release version in December – but it’s still a good pointer to the intended pace of the Apple Intelligence rollout …
