Weebly website builder comes to iPad with comprehensive app

Weebly, one of the more popular web-based, drag-and-drop solutions for creating websites, has made its way to the iPad for the first time. The app, which was demonstrated to us earlier this week, is a comprehensive, end-to-end solution for creating, editing, and managing websites right from the iPad. The video below shows a little bit more about the app:

The iPad app syncs with your work on the web and also interacts with the companion iPhone and iPod touch application. Weebly wouldn’t comment on the possibility of a full blown editing solution for the iPhone, only saying that the different devices are geared toward different use cases. Weebly is free to download on the App Store and the different user plans can be seen on their website.

Here are some more screenshots of the iPad app in action:

But, but… the iPad is nothing more than “a media consumption device”, surely?

As a Windows PC Weebly user, it is a good product that can produce imaginative web-sites pretty quickly. My biggest concern in the last 3 years of using their product – their tech support. They seem fine on easy “how to” issues. But when presented with a more complex issue, or an situation where you have found a bug or performance issue … they seem to disappear. If they don’t have a “level 2” support in place that can receive the tougher support requests, do some research into the issue, and provide more concrete answers … they need to start thinking about that. The bigger you get and more platforms you want to support, the more important the support infrastructure.

Weebly undoubtedly the most popular one but it’s not a fact that the best website builder. In principle this is a matter of habit but I like EverWeb or more multipurpose online builders that don’t care Mac or PC: http://www.webbuildersguide.com/website-builder-categories/website-builders-for-mac/

Choosing website builder much depends on website that you need to get – here everything is very individual.
