Apple has just sent out official invitations to media outlets (via CNBC) for its next special event on September 9th. The tagline this year reads “Hey Siri, give us a hint.” The event will take place at 10 am PT at Bill Graham auditorium in San Francisco, California, which was rumored to be the venue ahead of the invites. Apple’s September event is set to include the next generation iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus as well as the long awaited Apple TV hardware update.
Speaking of Apple TV, the invite’s “Hey Siri” tagline is surely a reference to the iOS-based version set to debut with app support and an improved remote control and Siri as we’ve reported. As for Apple’s two new iPhones this year, we’re expecting major camera upgrades this time around including a 12MP back camera, 4K video recording, and a screen flash for selfies similar to the Mac’s Photo Booth app effect.

We also reported earlier today that Apple will include Apple Watch-like motion wallpapers which match up with leaked packaging for the expected iPhone 6S Plus. Apple will also likely use the event to show off iOS 9 and watchOS 2 one more time before their release. The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are expected to also add a new color option to the mix and launch on September 18th with pre-orders kicking off a week prior.
Apple has also updated its homepage to note that it will live stream the event for those not in attendance. Streaming the event requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Safari on iOS 7 or later or a 2nd- or 3rd-gen Apple TV with software 6.2 or later. Notably for PC users, Apple also now supports streaming on Windows 10 running the Edge browser. 9to5Mac will have live coverage and analysis of the news out of the event (plus more details about what to expect) so stay tuned.

Cannot wait… currently on an iPhone 5C and looking forward to upgrading to an iPhone 6S Plus. xD
They look like RGB waves for a new Apple TV!
It’s the Siri pattern.
that is how siri looks on the Apple watch and iOS 9
lol I was about to say lol!
Or like the waves in Siri as well.
I see 5 colours; you only see 3?
It’s the Siri wave, as seen on Apple Watch and iOS 9 betas
I agree with you, although it’s the Siri pattern, it’s also the NTSC Color bars hue, look for them
Sweet. Time to get a 6S(+) in December :P
Do we think we will see a new iPad Mini?
Yes… I need a new iPad mini.
I’m always very excited to see them guys and what’s new to present.
with that title it makes me think hopefully they added Siri hands free activation even while unplugged from charger, that would be dope to play music while driving, as if Siri was a Dj
You can do that already… Settings/Siri/Allow “Hey Siri”.
No, right now the phone must be plugged in.. Mike is wanting it to work when unplugged from charger.
Yeah that’s my thought, and it would be a huge upgrade for Siri. It’s fairly rare that I bother to plug my phone into a charger since the battery comfortably gets me through a whole day. With so much of the new iOS revolving around Siri I think it’d be surprising for always on voice activation not to be available.
Well this looks like a big update for Siri, give us AR!!
I meant AI
Awww I thought we were going to get something pirate related…oh well
Snuck? Whippersnappers!
Hey Siri, give us a Canadian Apple Pay hint.
Looks like Force Touch to me.
Agreed! I think it looks like a finger pressing down on something with waves coming off the depress, could be the ‘force touch’ (or whatever they are going to call it) on the iPhone and new Apple TV remote!
Siri giving everyone a hint!
Rather than a finger, I think it looks even more like a stylus tip. Hmmm…
The invitation Graphic looks like Siri running on a wide screen TV and force touch on the iphone 6S. Two good hints.
When I ask Siri that question it mentions a “hint of Lime” a play on words or something more clever?
Mine was why don’t you check a rumors blog? That’s what I do
Asking Siri to “Give us a hint” draws the snarky response “You’re cute when you’re desperate for information.” Am I?
I’m totally not trying to burst bubbles but that’s not a stylus or a force touch impression. It’s the top of the Apple logo. It’s completely unaltered. You can lay a logo on top of it, the size, width, depth is the same as usual.
However, the TV control colors is interesting because despite the waves on watch and iOS 9 being very similar, there are more colors here and they just happen to coincide with the TV control broadcast screen. However, it is probably more coincidence than anything because both are rainbows. And Apple’s no stranger to that.
